I seem to remember you can swap for a dyna 2000 system. I'm sure Al posted something along these lines for a J. Try search option.

thats the way it should be. Positive neutral finder. as you said - spin the back wheel and it'll go into second. have a look at the diagram below - parts 40 and 41 specifically. these 3 little ball bearings control this i believe. Frames are certainly different both on side panel mounting and at the back

Seat mounting different as is the switchgear.
Headlamp brackets and obviously clocks

I’m sure I’ve missed loads but back of the frame and seat mounting will the most work
