Re: Z900 a4 brake plate catching hub

Thanks for the replies, I have found the problem . It's a slightly damaged hub , I didn't see it when the wheels were stripped probably about 10 years ago, you can't see it but can feel it . It would possibly grind out and be useable but don't want to chance it .. I now need a hub ...

Re: Z900 a4 brake plate catching hub

was the bearing you took out seized solid? If so, it could have been spinning its inner race against the inside of the brake plate, wearing the inner face of the brake plate down ( hence closing up the clearance between drum outer face and outer periphery of brake plate.) That surface doesn't look ...

Z900 a4 brake plate catching hub

Z900 A4. Rear brake plate catching the edge of the drum. All bearings are as they should be and the spacer is correct way round with the offset shoulder towards the drum side. Everything as the parts diagram . You don't have to bolt it in to realise it is going to rub, it's the outer edge of the pla...

Re: Worth a look next time your there

Very nice , prices never did reach the dizzy heights of the 900 / 1000's .

Visiting a bike shop a while ago , looking at the Z900 RS I noticed the new 650 was a twin. I reckon Kawasaki missed a trick there not producing another 4 .

Re: Z1000 LTD to standard

I built this last year , used Bandit front and back and obviously engine , the steering lock issue I got over with a set of billet yokes . I didn't search for another alternative at the time. I am considering going back to a Z engine , just looking into the speedo issue etc as its a later front end .

Re: Z900 A4 Reluctant Sale

Good score . Can’t help thinking people are talking ‘the market’ down. The crash has been coming for a long time , lots of people were in denial . Lots of older bikes sat around with big price tags because the owners have too much invested in them . It peaked during Covid . Some smaller classics ha...

Re: Mk II

Probably rarer than a Z1 in the UK now . Many were exported back to Japan when they were cheaper in the 90's . I used to supply BAT motorcycles with various models 250' and 400 but never found a Mk 2 . They always had a few ready for shipping when I was at their Biggin Hill warehouse.
