Gave the the carbon build up a clean with a fine scotchbrite pad soaked in oil, needs more work but only spent just over 5 minutes per cylinder to get to this stage, had give up before hypothermia set in, (the trouble with concrete garages this time of year ) Also noticed the valve cut on No1 exhaus...

Taken a look at the cylinder head over the last couple of days a good degrease a coat or 2 of a good paint stripper (the original coating is proving to be stubborn) It appears the exhaust valve clearances where virtually closed because of the carbon build up, I also believe the head has been off at ...

Regarding the mk2 exhausts from DK, when I bought my first ever Mk2 in 1980 it had original exhausts, they lasted about 18 months before our climate wrecked them, so I bought an Alfa 4 into 1, very load and anti social :D :D :D, when I first had this one in 1995 it also had originals they also rotte...

Took advice from 8 valve mark
Oil the cams wrap in oiled kitchen roll for a few hours then I used a scotch rite pad to clean them up,

Thanks for the replies guys, I will be giving it ago as soon as I manage to get the head carb holders off, them pesky Japanese JIS screws are being a bit stubborn :D :D :D

Hi guys
Any suggestions of how to go around clearing built up carbon deposits in the cumbustion area and the exhaust ports, I don’t really want to go down the blasting route

Mark, I have had a look at the H wiring diagram, I looks familiar, I have the Z1300 injection so has 2 extra plugs,another coil also sensors for the water cooling side as well :( :shock: :eek
