Cotswold Airport

As it was nice out, albeit a bit fresh, decided to pop up to Cotswold Airport for a cup of splosh and to blow the cobwebs off this old girl :D

Re: Seat covers

Thanks, i’ll Have a look at those. Always good to get a recommendation from someone.

Perhaps naively ? I am making the assumption that this is not that difficult to do !

Seat covers

Whilst the weather is still a bit tatty I figured I’ll have a go at replacing my seat cover which is looking decidedly second hand ! Some advice would be welcome from those that have done this before. Where can you get a good quality replica cover from ? I know there are people selling them on eBay,...

Re: Best quality 4=1?

Bit of an update. The new one pitched up today. It’s exactly the same shape as the existing one. It also whacks against the frame when it goes back. Weird ! Guess My only option is to try and make something to stop it from going back so far. Still doesn’t explain why it’s doing that though wh...

Re: Best quality 4=1?

I’ve ordered another one which should be here on Thursday with a bit of luck. Hopefully that’ll sort the issue out.
We’ll see !

Re: Best quality 4=1?

With apologies to garyd for hijacking your post.
So gentlemen, what d’ya reckon ? Is this a proper Z900 kickstand or a ltd one ? And is it bent, or is it suppose to be slightly curved back like that ?
Cheers

Re: Best quality 4=1?

Ah oK, that makes sense.
Not sure if it’s the right stand as it was on the when I got the bike. I did think the bike leans a bit heavily over to the left on the kickstand. Maybe that’s why then.
Guess I better check and see about getting a new one.

Re: Best quality 4=1?

Just put one of the Delkevic 4-1’s on my z900.
Only thing is the kickstand now wants to whack against the frame when it goes back. They do supply a bracket with the exhaust but it looks like that’s for the main stand.
This can’t be a new problem I’m guessing ? What d’ya do ?

Re: Prep for 1st start for 5 months

Thanks fellas, now got some of those Suzuki ones on order, which should fit according to the dimensions.

The petrol that’s in the tank is about 5 months old. Ditch it ? Or it’ll still be fine ? It’s just the standard unleaded stuff, not the E0 type.

Re: Prep for 1st start for 5 months

Thanks Chris. Noted ! One more question please. Petrol tap was weeping so I got a seal kit and just fitted it. All good except that the two little filters that sit inside the fuel tank on top of the fuel tap inlet pipe and reserve pipe, are shot ! Any suggestions for where you can get those little f...

Re: Prep for 1st start for 5 months

Presumably that’s to get some oil pumping around before I fire it up. Sounds like a good idea. I’ll do that.

Did I read somewhere that you’re suppose to re-torque the head nuts after the first ride ?

Prep for 1st start for 5 months

Hi chaps, Having almost finished rebuilding from the barrels up, is there any prep’ that’s advisable before trying to start it ? I’ve changed the oil and filter, and when I was putting the head on I rubbed a little oil around the cylinders and all over the cams, followers and cam shells. Anything el...
