i am on with building a motor at the moment for predominatly fast road use.
1460 cc block and now looking at cam choices.
have seen some 470/500 lift cams for sale but are these a bit severe ?
would a set of milder cams say 420 lift be a better choice for this type of motor. ?

no not fitting an air shifter but building up a new motor from scratch and thought as i had one lying about would put it in as i rebuilt the transmission.

where exactly does the bush fit on the transmission

looking for a z900 crank for new engine build if any body has one. ?

did you get the engine vapour blasted locally.?
need my engine doing and would like to use a local firm..

thanks for the replies. the bike will be road use with occasional sprint. as i said liked the old school look of the magneto. will the engine be unresponsive without the advance/retard mechanism. am looking at an ama style bike, ie no lights , daytime mot just a rear brake light so this could be run...

any ideas on the cost of a belt driven magneto ignition for the z.
i like the old school look of them, but finding it difficult to find any information specifications or costs.

rob i have some 0.9mm 1.00mm 1.1mm 1.2mm drills you can borrow to drill out your existing jets if you cannot source any larger ones.

what is the pin diameter in the stock z1000 motor.

cam box cover and sump pan.

have just bought a big bore kit for my z1000 work in progress . spec as follows mtc big bore o ring block. 1463cc arias 13.5:1 pistons. have read on the oldskool performance site that there may be problems with oil leaks on such a set up for road bikes. Have i shot myself in the foot , again....!!!!...

does aybody know what the headstock angle is on a 1977 z1000.
have seen a figure of 26 degrees but not sure if this is correct.
