Did you have your engine vibratory polished by Steve smelt hurst by chance. Looks like a ball bearing . They are known to get stuck in oil ways etc?

That was my old bike. It came in from italy and I got it in 2001 with 3000kms on it! Fastest z1b I have ever had. It also came with the same grab rail as fitted to the z900's. People kept telling me it was the wrong grab rail but I knew that every nut and bolt on the bike was original(not any more!)...

The cracks should have been repaired when the seats were changed. Dont wory about it, they have probably been cracked for years and will probably last for years to come. Just ride it and enjoy it.
