get it professionally pressed in ( they might want to heat it all up, remove that liner to make sure there's no foreign matter stopping it from seating down fully first) and then get the entire gasket face skimmed smooth

was there not an octane booster thing you could buy ( and maybe still can) which was a a mesh bag of small balls you put in the tank? Dunno if it works, but the ad looked tempting. Take the tank off, drain it and see if there's more balls rattling in there, along with a burst bag. No 1 float bowl is...

just because the inlet rubbers look OK, that means nothing. Test by spraying carb cleaner or easy start around the inlet rubbers while the engine is running. If the engine speeds up, there's a leak. Are all the rubber bungs on the inlet rubbers tight?

I had my z9 fork tubes rechromed by HardChrome Plating and Bringing ( HCPG) in Nottingham in 1989 and they're still fine 65 000 miles later. I've used Philpotts too , for an Rd 500 and an XL185 resto and the price was marginally cheaper , quality seemed good but I don't have the same long term milea...

theoretically the clearance should be the same at all points when the cam's base circle is towards the bucket. But I always measure the clearance with the lobe pointing directly away from the bucket

sounds like a drop the carbs out situation unfortunately, and check the pilot circuit and flush it it the direction of airflow + reverse flush it too from the venturi hole backwards ( bit more tricky)

Have you thought about a Zephyr 750 or 1100 rear light - they had a ducktail too , so will be the right shape for your ducktail. And it keep it in the Kawasaki family
