Cam Chain & Top Idler Query

Chaps, apologies my spannering skills are a bit limited and any advice would be appreciated. Was checking valve clearances today on my Z1000A1 project - bike is still on my ramp but starts and runs fine with no noises or rattles etc (meant to be low miles but no guarantees). A couple of inlet cleara...

Re: Rear Light Gremlin Z1000 A1

Finally sorted the gremlin - once again thanks for the tips. Cant believe what an absolute b'stard that was: so many hours taken up and it turned out to be something so small and caused by my own bodgery   Having had almost the entire loom and electrics in bits the last thing I checked w...

Re: Rear Light Gremlin Z1000 A1

Thanks again chaps - will have another go on Wednesday to see if I can eliminate the RH switch and/or instrument harness - I did rebuild the instrument cluster & fitted new loom but may accidentally trapped something

Re: Rear Light Gremlin Z1000 A1

The torment continues :mad - took onboard the tips and had a real go at sorting the "short", but alas not managed to resolve this and am getting thru 10A fuses at a hell of a rate :D . Not sure how something so simple and on first impressions so easy to resolve has caused such pain and sto...

Re: Rear Light Gremlin Z1000 A1

Thanks for the tips guys; Really is bugging me though :dead as loom and switches look in good order - no obvious bodges, and Ive already had the rear loom fully apart thinking I would quickly find the culprit  I will have a "proper" go at sorting the gremlin this week and let you kno...

Re: Rear Light Gremlin Z1000 A1

Philippe, thanks will double check that tomorrow. CAT3 cheers - yes as you decsribed: bike is totally standard with original loom and fitings, and the brake light works as it should (so do the rear indicators / hazards fed from the same rear wiring harness), but as I turn the lights on whilst the fr...

Rear Light Gremlin Z1000 A1

Hi, just putting togther my project A1 and have hit an unexpected snag when re assembling the rear lights and indicators: insofar as soon as I switch my lights on the rear tail light is week/dim (brake light is strong) and blows the 10amp fuse. I thought it would be an easy fix with a short somewher...

Re: Sump Pan Removal Z1000A1

Thanks chaps - ill give it a go with a bigger mallet  As all bolts, drain plug / filter etc were removed I was a bit concerned there might be a locating dowel holding it (did not think so, but you never know) so did not want to thrash away too hard with my trusty mallet - she really is putting ...

Sump Pan Removal Z1000A1

Guys, might seem a basic question, but having real difficulties removing the sump pan on my A1: all 17 bolts came out with no difficulty, everything looks ok and cant see anuthing retaining it, but I cant shift the pan. Ive tried a wee bit of shock treatment with a nylon hammer but before resorting ...

Mikuni VM26 Pilot Jets 17.5 - Hens Teeth ?

Hi Chaps, I need to refurbish some carb issues on a Z1000A1 project, but cant seem to find a source for standard Mikuni 17.5 pilot jets. Tried a few searches for VM26 pilots: phoned Allens Performance twice and was told "no one available go away". I emailed them and 48 hours later have zer...
