Re: Outer 32mm crank bearing Mk2 Z1100 ST J ? + parts

Hi GreenMamba,

Thanks for sending over the pictures.

I have been offered another crank with bearings so I am going for the easy option and using it instead.

Cheers

Re: Outer 32mm crank bearing Mk2 Z1100 ST J ? + parts

Hi GreenMamba

I think it is part of the crank assembly unfortunately so I have been unable to find a number for it.

I took off the crank web with the large bearing on it yesterday so I can put the standard Z1000a1 end back on.

Cheers

Re: Outer 32mm crank bearing Mk2 Z1100 ST J ? + parts

Hi

Just called Chris and Ray at Debben again.

Chris doesn't sell parts unfortunately and Debben has used up his stock on his race bikes.

So the search continues?

Re: Outer 32mm crank bearing Mk2 Z1100 ST J ? + parts

Hi

Thanks Al and Big Fluff.

I am not making a lot of progress at the moment but I will stay with it. Starter gear etc are OK but the crank main bearing is the real problem.

Cheers

Re: Z1000 1977

Hi Jules,

We are in Sidford ... just outside Sidmouth. I think there are a few Z owners around here. Looking forward to getting back on a Z again after a few years away.

Cheers

Re: Z1000 1977

Hi zed1015, Thanks for the info. Yes I noticed the changes on the microfiche but would like the option to use it at some stage if possible. I think the crank is of little use without a complete set of bearings and I don't want to put anyone in the same situation I am in. I did look at machining the ...

Outer 32mm crank bearing Mk2 Z1100 ST J ? + parts

Hi I have purchase an unusual crank with what looks like a Mk2 gen/alt set-up. I was going to use my old Z1000a1 main crank bearing outer race and needle rollers but it's undersized. Does anyone have a bearing for a Mk2 or possibly Z1100, ST, J? I think the outer would be 62mm OD and probably 42mm I...

Re: Z1000 1977

Hi Thanks again I contacted the seller and it came from DK and apparently it was from a 1980 custom. Their web site shows a similar crank, I messaged them but no reply. I will try and sort an outer bearing for it to make it usable again. I guess the 32mm bearing must be on the later cranks. Z1100 Mk...

Re: Z1000 1977

Hi Zed1015, Thanks for the quick reply.. I appreciate your help. This is really strange, sounds like someone has changed a few things around. I have just had another measure and taken some pictures to make sure I am not going mad. Old Z1000a1 The main bearings on the old crank are 30mm and the big e...

Re: Z1000 1977

Hi That sounds great, thanks again for the help. Everything was working out really well .. Fitted new head stock bearings and added the bandit front end, Re-machined the top yoke to take Z1000 clocks. Got the carbs rebuilt after repair to the jet-block and most of the bits I wanted have arrived. Cle...

Re: Z1000 1977

Ahhhh the old brake debate. Some of the older drum brakes were amazing but some, like my old Moto Guzzi, are very scary. Looks like you know what you are doing Zed1015. That's a great idea. I had thought about changing the needle rollers before but have never found a supplier. I guess the parts you ...

Re: Z1000 1977

Thanks for the relpy. I guess the Z1000 is better because of the stronger frame and heavier crank? I have been told the rear brake was not so good. Why is the Z1000 better? Pigford ... I know what you mean about the wheels, I would like to go for spoked later. I have a neighbour with a new ish trium...

Re: Z1000 1977

Thanks for all the advice, The money is an issue because my wife would rather go on holiday than spend it on some old rusty money-pit (her words). Having been married 3 times I am starting to get the hang of it. The bike has cost me £780 without parts I have recently got for it. I am OK with doing t...
