As far as I am aware a z900 or z1000 tank will fit as it's the same frame design.

I can tell you from first hand experience that this is correct.

Could somebody with a 1100 Zephyr (if there is anyone) measure the fork stanchion centres, or internal spacing, please. Doesn't matter which as long as I know.

Thank you,

Re: Z1000-A1 Main Loom routing?

Funnily enough, although you'd think it went behind the frame, it doesn't.

This is a pic of an unrestored 900A4, but Z1000A1 and A2s are the same - the side panel hides it.

Re: Engine oil

I have not read about the needle bearing thing before, interesting stuff. What I can't get my head around is this. To prevent wear the needles have to roll, which requires friction. In my simple head, this would be the same friction that causes wear :?? A weird analogy would be comparing rolling lo...

Re: Engine oil

I'm not an oil expert, and don't profess to be. what I can tell you is this : Over the last 15 years, I've restored and run 6 Gs1000's, a CBX, Z1300 , both Benelli sixes, Z1a, Z1r , Guzzi Lemans 3 and a few others I cant remember. I tried Mobil 1 fully synth in nearly all of them ( bought a drum of...

Re: Engine oil

.. and yes, I appreciate that JASO did not exist when the Zeds were manufactured, and that they did run on what is by modern terms, a fairly crude oil product - but then again, they used to break down more often back then too. You will (or should) use modern brakes and tyre compounds, why not also ...

Quite, I have one and am considering copying it, but with 1000 sized piston clamps.

Re: vacuum tap issue

Reserve DOES run on vacuum, (otherwise there would be no point in having a prime function). If anyone's tap IS running free on reserve - they have an issue with the tap diaphragm. This is what I thought to be true. You should be able to pull the fuel hose off the tap with no leaks from the tap in a...

Re: vacuum tap issue

Reserve and prime are both unrestricted flow. I feel so stupid David, I had no idea that was the case, I am so grateful to you and Z1B man for your help, my only excuse is I rarely run onto reserve and obviously the bike shop had to do so during the dyno test. Many thanks Dave Nor me, every day is ...

Re: Z1B Restoration

I'd be grinding the case out where the cracks are until all the aluminium is gone well below where the cracks are. Then a good welder can build it back up, without trying to get into cracks or crevises, or welding with trapped oil (oh how welders moan about trapped oil!!!) and you know any pre-stres...
