Quite, I have one and am considering copying it, but with 1000 sized piston clamps.

Re: vacuum tap issue

Reserve DOES run on vacuum, (otherwise there would be no point in having a prime function). If anyone's tap IS running free on reserve - they have an issue with the tap diaphragm. This is what I thought to be true. You should be able to pull the fuel hose off the tap with no leaks from the tap in a...

Re: vacuum tap issue

Reserve and prime are both unrestricted flow. I feel so stupid David, I had no idea that was the case, I am so grateful to you and Z1B man for your help, my only excuse is I rarely run onto reserve and obviously the bike shop had to do so during the dyno test. Many thanks Dave Nor me, every day is ...

Re: Z1B Restoration

I'd be grinding the case out where the cracks are until all the aluminium is gone well below where the cracks are. Then a good welder can build it back up, without trying to get into cracks or crevises, or welding with trapped oil (oh how welders moan about trapped oil!!!) and you know any pre-stres...

84p for a pack of 10, if it was me, I'd be buying 10 and trying them regardless of what the measurements say.

Re: Z1000 Z1R cylinder head complete

Can't Buzzard help? (Buzzworks).

Failing that there is a company in Slough who can mill out the old seats, fit new ones, over size OD if necessary and re-cut a 3 angle seat.

PM me if you want their contact details.

If you are stripping the engine, then, as you say, the head off makes a world of difference....getting it out or in!

Re: Points

I have most of a Z1000 (early type) advancer. It is missing; the cam (did have a Dyna 'S' on it) now long gone, and unfortunately it is also missing the two tiny damper pads from the bob weights. Mechanically it's otherwise sound with good springs,... its marked 005. Yours if you want it its no use...

Re: Carb question

I was reading a post on tinterweb about mikuni flat spots, a poster said they had a low revs flat spot, like mine, he said someone had drilled lots of holes in the air box, he blanked them off and cured his problem, my snorkel also has loads of holes drilled in it by some previous person, do you th...

So..I would like to purchase, if anyone has one spare, a complete points set-up, ie backing plate, points, condensers, advance unit and points cam. I know the advance unit is used on most electron...
