The X piece is a frame brace mod that was popular back in the day here in South Africa as a method of strengthening the frame, similar to the method of gusseting the old Z900 and Z1000 frames
It "allegedly" improves handling, IMO its questionable
I need some help, The previous owner had cut off this bracket on the right rear of the frame. I am asking that, if somebody has a Z1000J frame laying around, if they could take a photo of what this bracket should look like and post it up here, so I can manufacture the piece thats been cut out and we...
Actually got something done today! Any guesses? Starting to look like something... http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w149/Mindless000/20140719_164431.jpg Done! http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w149/Mindless000/20140719_205953.jpg Refurbished the fully floating disc that came with the rear wheel....
I have a full set of 4 - 73mm Wiseco pistons and rings in good condition reason for not using - replacing with 72mm Wiseco Pistons and rings in new barrels and head But the postage from South Africa could be expensive http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x472/keith_rs_pics/Kawasaki%20Z1000J/IMG_0899....

The cost of this motor is less than the cost of resleeving the barrels (installing new barrel liners) and re-drilling and threading the cam...
You want 1.92 to 1 to equal the original ratio you had with the 18"s. If you have a chunkier modern swinger then somewhere around 19t front and 38t to 40t rear will help the chain clear the top run. This is the swingarm that I am using, together with ZX9 forks, brakes and rims http://i1183.pho...
For the Z1000J
What are the recommended sprocket sizes, front and rear when doing both
(a) a 17 inch wheel conversion
(b) 630 to 530 chain and sprocket conversion
Got some work done on the zed today, but it has now also created more questions than answers. I could never have imagined what I would find until I opened the motor The previous owner has forced 1/4" (BSW) witworth screws (bolts) into some of the 6mm tappet cover screws, then not one of the cam...
