Re: Z1 matching ignition and lock set
Be aware though that they have the correct numbers on them and look correct but they aren't the same cut as the original so you can't get a key cut from just the number code

Re: Dismantling ignition barrel - pin removal
For future reference, when a steering lock key wont turn it's usually full of road crap. The best method I've found is to fill the barrel with Carb Cleaner or similar the push key in and out quickly several times then to put the key in the lock applying pressure as if to turn it and apply gentle hea...

Re: Recommended Chromers
Chromers tend to be like painters, a bit hit and miss. I've used Marque restore in Coventry and the quality was fine and the price was highish but reasonable. The time it took however was ridiculous and they consider answering the phone a nuisance. Agbrigg in Leeds are quick and cheap, of the items ...

Re: STEERING LOCK
Often the cylinders can become clogged up inside with dust and dirt. First thing to do is stop using WD40, never use it on any cylinder, it mixes with dust etc and forms a sticky paste. To get the muck out use Carb Cleaner, you'll know it's working as the liquid coming out should be filthy. Follow t...
Yes, but the problem is you either need two keyed alike cylinders or the internal parts in order to match a cylinder to a key. There are only Five keys for the Z1 and Z900 bikes so a pair of cylinders shouldn't be a problem and your local locksmith will charge you a tenner or so to swap them around.

The number on the barrel is the key number and should be in the range 751-755 on a Z1B. I supply them all the time no problem. The only problems arise with the new pattern switches which are stamped with a Kawasaki correct number but the keys do not in fact match the numbers. I charge £10 for keys ...

I run all my bikes on super unleaded and have no problems when using them regularly, however when I lay them up for the winter I have had problems in the past so for the last three years I have used Briggs and Stratton fuel fit and it works. £2.99 for enough to treat two gallons of petrol. Last yea...
