Re: Z1R

Did the original seller not want first dibs? No - I contacted him first but he’d have to sell his Ellsie to fund it. TBF, Pigford kept his word but I'm just not able to raise the funds required ATM. The bike is a beaut, put together to be reliable, to stop well and handle well. I'm hoping someone o...

Re: Coloured Polishing Compounds

Hmmm I've got a '79 XT500 that I'm restoring. The aluminium tank is half polished and half painted but its all covered in laquer that's cracked over the years. I'm thinking about trying to polish the laquer off so I can keep the original paint and decals underneath. Any advice? Cheers Rich Feeling ...

Re: Eleanor - Damaged car.

Hmmmm... Is that the aluminium bodied X350 model? I've had a proper hankering For an X350 XJR for years. Unfortunately, my champagne tastes are no match for my lemonade pockets.

Re: Z1R - Piggy's Revenge!

Well done Mark

I wasn't a great fan of the blue fuel hose either! I quite liked the blue Taylor leads though, I think they bring out the blue of the paintwork. Grey leads might have the opposite effect?

The old girl is looking good!

Re: Z1R - Piggy's Revenge!

Agree mirrors are too big - I don’t usually do mirrors as they spoil the lines on any bike... but will leave them be for now. As for clear lense indicators ! No thanx never liked them, don’t suit classic bikes. Just need to plumb in Oil Cooler now! If you look closely Mark, you'll see that the Z1R ...

I just noticed that you've fitted the oil cooler too. Very neat. So neat in fact I didn't notice it until I had a second look.

Good work Mark

Re: Z1R - Piggy's Revenge!

Looks great. The idea behind the PMC extended tail, the Bulldock tail tidy, the Tarozzi rearsets, and fitting lower handlebars was to make the mighty Z1R look longer and leaner. The Bulldock screen adds to that look by lowering the overall height of the front, balancing the front and rear. The new s...
