Re: Anyone here ride or race Eddie Lawson reps or J`s.

No worries about the questions ,it’s tricky for me to diagnose even though I have access to the bike. The bike is up against a wall in my garage, surrounded by lots of stuff, so I can’t get to her and give it a bounce, also shamefully I haven’t ridden her for about a year, a waste in anybody’s book....

Re: Anyone here ride or race Eddie Lawson reps or J`s.

Hi All. Thanks for your feedback, sorry for late reply as I don’t use a computer on weekends due to spending all working week sat in front of the bloody thing. I will answer questions in order from: Phillippe. Yes I have had the spring pre load in a variety of settings, worked better in the middle b...

Anyone here ride or race Eddie Lawson reps or J`s.

Anyone here ride or race Eddie Lawson reps or J`s. Need advice regards setting up suspension on my ELR(2). I rarely ride this bike now which is a shame as having put new flatsides on in 2019, it goes very well indeed. However, I seem to have upset the handling by putting on a pair of KYB piggy back ...

Re: Does a club rack fit a Z Power reproduction grabrail

Hi Al.

Nice to hear from you.
No its not the 1000R - which now i have the flatsides on, goes very very well indeed - just like its on Viagra.

Its a 78 Zed, just tinkering with things to try and get it set up for a bit of touring / camping, when the Virus permits.

Trust you are keeping well.

Re: Does a club rack fit a Z Power reproduction grabrail

Hi Al.

Chris has already done some groundwork for me and it seems the Z power grabrail is going to be fine.

The grabrail i have has a slight peak to it and some of the angles are slightly different. . You wouldn't really notice this unless you were trying to fit a rack.

Does a club rack fit a Z Power reproduction grabrail

Can anybody confirm if a club rack fits a Z Power reproduction grabrail.

My rack (nice bit of kit) doesn't marry up with the repro grabrail i currently have. I want to make sure when i get a new grabrail it fits the rack.

Cheers.

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

To conclude.
I've taking the bike on my normal ride to work route where i normally break down twice (each way) and a good 20 mile motorway sprint and all is fine.

Never ever overlook the bloody obvious.

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

Ha Thanks Oldzed, makes me feel a tiny bit better........but still feel a proper Muppet.
Going for another test ride later, just to be sure to be sure.

Fingers crossed.

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

Update. Hi All. I must admit I am not very good with electrics so testing volts at coil inputs etc is a dark art to me and Ralph had already gone over most of the electrics, except the Ignition coil, rotor and pick up, which according to the internet these bikes can have problems with. So after a go...

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

Hi OldZed & Mr Bump....and anyone. Update. As suggested I attached a cheap voltmeter and went for a ride in the hope the bike will fail whilst showing the voltage was all over the place, indicating an alternator / magneto /rotor problem when the bike gets hot. Bike stuttered and stalled as usual...

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

Thanks OldZed. Will have a go at rigging up a cheap voltmeter and see what happens. Mr Bump. unfortunately the lights come on automatically, cant run without them and 100% sure i haven't put in diesel and also it has a fuel nozzle restriction under the fuel cap. I also refuel very regularly, sometim...

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

Hi Pigford. No - no oil leaks around head, no air leaks around carbs or inlets and no exhaust leaks. Update. Took bike for a spin. After about 10 miles on an A road ran it up a long fast hill top gear full throttle. Crested the hill and still giving it some, all was ok. Less than 1 mile later I had ...

Re: Stalling and stuttering at motorway speeds.

Thanks Pigford. Will give it a spin later and try and check the fuel level in the carbs. I`m sure its not electrical, sometimes when it plays up i pull over and just keep tickling the throttle and after a minute or two its running fine again, until i hit the next fast long stretch of road. Sometimes...
