Re: How much to rebuild a Zed Engine
Hi DavidZ1R, If I were still able to ride the bike and put some shake down miles on it after the casings transplant that would be a great idea. Unfortunately I can't ride the bloody thing any more, so I couldn't sell it with hand on heart that it was in good running order. As it is, I know that I've...

Re: How much to rebuild a Zed Engine
Thanks Phillipe, That's a very good idea. On ebay the cheapest set of Z1b casings cost around £400, so even if the new buyer decided to sell the casings they'd have got themselves an extra discount on what (I think) is a reasonably priced bike. I'll update my ad later today to include the Z1b casing...

Re: How much to rebuild a Zed Engine
£4k-£5k labour? Eh lad, things like engine rebuilds were a lot cheaper when I were a lad :( The other reason I wasn't too bothered about changing the casings back in the day was that A&H Performance Cycles were kind enough to overstamp the Z900 casings with the original engine number from the Z1...

Re: How much to rebuild a Zed Engine
Hi warren3200gt, I decided against stripping the engine at the time as it was running so well, and I've only covered 3000 miles on it in 20 years, so I'd hope that there wouldn't be any nasty surprises hiding inside the casings. I suppose the worst case scenario could be that there's a fault with th...

How much to rebuild a Zed Engine
Hi All, I’ve hit a snag while trying to sell my bike and I’m hoping I can get some advice… Due to illness I can no longer ride my Z1b, so I sadly decided to put it up for sale. During recent discussions with a potential buyer over the history of my Z1b I remembered that when I had the engine rebuilt...

Re: Need some O rings for VM29 Fuel T-piece
Hi ZedHead, Thanks for the offer, but I've been trawling through ebay and just come across the advert below - four VM29 Smoothbore O-Ring Gasket Kits for for 30 quid. I didn't fancy forking out 16 dollars postage for 3 dollars worth of O rings from the USA, but from here for 30 quid you get all the ...

Re: Need some O rings for VM29 Fuel T-piece
Thanks for the link Wrigers,
I had a look at their shop. They sell T Pieces complete with O rings but they don't sell O rings individually, and they don't explicitly mention VM29 carbs just the standard Z1/Z1A/Z1B/Z900 carbs, and I don't know if they're the same or not.
Cheers,
Stuart

Re: Need some O rings for VM29 Fuel T-piece
Thanks for the replies guys.
I could take an O ring out to measure it, but knowing my luck after 40 years of service they'll fall to pieces as soon as I remove them, then I'll have no O ring to measure and no bike to ride..
I'll drop Vapourworx an email later.
Thanks again,
Stuart

Need some O rings for VM29 Fuel T-piece
Good evening all, Every spring when I wake my Z1B from its hibernation, I spend the first few hours waiting for the T-Piece O rings to swell up and stop petrol pissing all over the engine. I thought this winter I'd treat the carbs to some new O rings. Trouble is Allens Performance haven't got any in...

Re: 1973 Z1 Choke lever grub screws
Hi Guys, I managed to chew up a couple of grub screws while taking the choke lever off my carbs last week, and before creating a post I thought I'd have a quick scan through the old posts to see if anyone else had suffered the same problem. Thanks to this post which gave me the DIN 553 code I was ab...

Re: Anybody know where I can get my bikes BHP measured in the Cambridge area?
Hi all, I phoned Peter James this afternoon for a quote, listing all the engine mods, and it only came to 4 quid more than Footman James quoted me for last year without any mods! :D No need for a rolling road now thankfully (thanks for the info though z1bman). All I have to do is upload the couple o...
