Re: Cylinder Head Washers
The copper ones are for the 4 outer studs where oil is fed under them, i.e. they are a seal. The others are steel. Re: Z1-B resurrection after 43 years
Trouble is , once you start adjusting the slide heights "blind", you can't be sure where they are . At least on the bench you can set them as a datum to work from. If you are struggling to balance the carbs on the bike with vac gauges, I would check to see if one or more of the carb mounts...

By throttle stop screw I assume you mean the screw to adjust the tickover revs. If this is not touching the throttle shaft and you still have revs, then 1 or more of the slides must be bottomed out and forcing the throttle shaft to open all the throttles. I would suggest removing the carbs and setti...

Re: Painting my brake calipers
I get mine blasted and sprayed with 2 pack satin black. I've changed all my bikes to synthetic brake fluid to hopefully preserve the finish.

Re: Genuine versus replica fenders/mudguards?
My observations on this: The new genuine ones are not quite the same as the original ones, especially the front. The rolled edges seem to be smaller on the new gen ones I bought. The replica ones are very good and I would say as good as the new gen items. However, my bikes don't see the rain ! I do ...

Handlebar Width
Anybody know the correct overall width of a set of original Z1B handlebars. I've got 2 different sizes in the garage, and all the repros are different again ?
Cheers Steve

Re: Z1R Restoration Completed
I've put HEL brake lines on this and Avon tyres. They seem as good as the BT45's on my other old Zeds.
Looking forward to the end of restrictions and get out again too.
