Re: Gone Over To The Dark Side

At the NEC Bike show I looked closely at all the "retro" type offerings. I really tried hard to like the 900RS but I thought it was too small and too similar to the the bike it was based on, the Z900. I thought the best retro by far was the CB1100 and the RS version of that. It felt old sc...

Z1R Right Seat Rail

Long shot I know, but does anyone have a right hand side seat rail for a Z1R in good condition. The part number is 14025-1023-7W and it's finished in the bluish silver colour of the D1.

Mine's got a lug broken off.

Re: Z1a Restoration

Picked up the engine from Buzzard on Sunday, very pleased :D so I made sure the frame was wrapped with Copex, great stuff very tough, there is no way the frame can get damaged using this, would recommend. Invited my son and mate round to give an hand, the 3 of us put it straight in without incident...

Re: KZ1000A1 Throttle cable bracket

There should be some movement in them to allow the closing cable action to work properly.

Re: got me thinking - question on another forum

This was the info supplied by Esso in April 2017 "The majority of unleaded 95 Octane petrol sold in the UK contains 5% ethanol as required under the Government's Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation (RTFO). There is currently no requirement for renewable fuel (such as ethanol) to be present in ...

Re: got me thinking - question on another forum

From the stuff I've read, I thought it was only Esso Supreme super unleaded that had no ethanol.

Re: Z1 Wheel rebuild

I replaced the spokes in the rear wheel of my Z900. I used a set of spokes from Z power which match the originals inc the nipples. Once I'd stripped the wheel, i cleaned up the rear hub with a scotch brite wheel. It came up like new. I polished the outer rim and brake plate but obviously this is per...

Re: Z1R Sprocket Cover

Thanks for the replies. I think I've got a spare lurking in the garage so I might as well fit it to add a bit more protection.

The sprocket nuts seem to have a habit of loosening off even with the lock washer in place. Are the self locking ones sold by Z power any better ?

Re: Z1R Sprocket Cover

Mine has the foam and the perforated metal cover in good nick but doesn't have the thin metal guard. I can't see one on he parts diagram either. Pretty sure this has never had one fitted as everything else seems to be on here which is normally ditched.

Z1R Sprocket Cover

Todays quiz...

Should the Z1R have the thin sprocket cover fitted as per Z1, Z900 ?

This is the one behind the main chain cover, just over the front sprocket.
