Andrew wouldn't have bored them unless they were close or over the wear limit. He would have just honed them and supplied new rings. Whenever he does work for me he sends the existing measurements prior to discussing the way forward and moving onto boring.
What did he advise Graham?

Re: Z900 A4 Engine rebuild yet again!
Good luck Graham. IMD do a good job. Gotta ask though who advised it needed hardened seats for unleaded use.? Unless the seats were knackered there was no need for replacements because hardened seats were already fitted from the factory and these engines were designed to run on unleaded from day on...

Re: Z1000st carb float height
Doing it the wet method way allows for differences in float bouancy but still maintain the same fuel levels in all the bowls.
Rough set the at 25mm inverted them adjust by the wet method.

Re: 1977 Z1000 for sale
Highly ambitious pricing I would say. Modded bikes never sell as well as stock bikes and stock Z1000'A1's are struggling to get £10k in the current climate.

Re: How much to rebuild a Zed Engine
Hmmmm, one of those how long is a piece of string questions. It'll depend on what's found when stripping your engine, and whilst it's apart I might as well scenario's. If there's no issues with your built engine and it's a straight pull apart rebuild in new cases job it could done in a longish singl...

Re: Size of main fuse
Used from 76 on Z650 through Z1000. NO. 92071-1008 I've got a Z650 and A4 that has it fitted. Both bike are 100% original. Doesn't show it on the parts diagrams for either bike but does show it on the 1977 Z1000. Have you checked if that's the cause of your issue? If it is then cheap work around is ...

Re: Size of main fuse
20a is the main fuse size. If it doesn't blow with the ignition off then there must be a short a short after the ignition switch. Normal place that wears is where the ignition connector block enters the headlight shell. If the headlight shell doesn't have the rubber grommet fitted the wiring can wea...

Re: Ignition loss
You need to mount the coils directly to the frame using the 2 bolts. The heat is dissipated from the coil core, the big metal bar running Through the centre, via the bolts to the frame. You shouldn't insulate the core from the frame or it'll over heat and fail having melted the windings insulation a...

Re: Ignition loss
I don't see why not. They are seperate circuits for each coil so I don't see how they could affect each other.

Re: Ignition loss
Dyna runs fine on oem black coils. Maybe swop them both back in and test run. If the fuse doesn't blow you have your confirmation.
