Re: 1973 Z1-NOISE IN MOTOR

Carbs set up is now crap. Loads of shut down 'run on' and erratic idling. Could this be rubbish compliance fitting rubbers? Thoughts and tips welcome. Bike is currently on a set of later 26 Mikuni Carbs. Have early 28 mm set of Mikunis and keep wondering whether it might be better with those on. Si...

Re: Marzocchi vs ohlin

Ohlins are great I have them on my ZRX.
However, I really rate YSS. They are much better than other similar priced stuff in terms of performance, build , materials and looks.

Try Z1 Classics in Derby, I know they have quite few Z1s coming in.

Re: Z1000 a1 exhausts?

I just see “scene” tax everywhere and I can’t help thinking there might be someone out there who would knock up some replicas for under a grand As has been already pointed out there's two things about pricing. The volume produced and what the market can stand/expects. The Doremi 4/4 kits are better...

Re: Z1000 a1 exhausts?

I spoke with OS Pipes a while ago and they no longer had the jigs to made the systems. If anyone wants a set you have to leave your z1000 with them for at least a few weeks for them to make the jig up. The price they quoted me was £850. I did note that from some photos of the ones they'd made earlie...

Re: Z1000 a1 exhausts?

Bit of work being done here... not cheap, not even reasonable ... may come down a bit if we have the numbers http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44097 I guess it depends on your perspective. However, I have stumbled across another option which may work out quite a bit cheaper. ...

Re: Leaking carbs

I've seen too many sets where problems have been caused by application of too much RTV.. It only needs a tiny bit to some off and get lodged somewhere to cause a problem.
So use at your own risk IMHO.

Re: Leaking carbs

When on the side stand this is normal as the fuel is now high on the left hand side of the carb. If this is occurring when on the centre stand then you have slightly incorrect float heights/fuel level or float valve slightly leaking. If they were massively out, or the float valve was leaking badly, ...
