Re: Z1000J idling too fast after carb balance

That's correct. The tickover screw normally works on carb 2, where the carbs should be balanced to that carb. So, do as Rob says to drop the vacuum of carb 2, adjust carb 1 to carb 2, make 3 & 4 equal and then drop them as a pair to match carbs 1 & 2 and then do any final tweaks. It's as sim...

KTM 950 Adventure

I know it's not a Zed, but I've finally (and slightly reluctantly) decided to sell this faithful old thing. It has served me proud, has travelled through many countries and been an absolute hoot but it's time to move on (old bikes are taking over!). If anyone is interested or knows anyone who wants ...

Having been out around Fridaythorpe (Seaways) and Sledmere today, with the amount of gravel on the road after this weekend's rain you certainly made the right call Phil. :)

I hope everyone got home ok? You old buggers get up far too early - I missed pretty-much everyone leaving!

Thanks to all for a cracking weekend, in particular Sandie and Phil for your excellent organisational skills. :)

Re: APE manual camchain tensioner adjustment.

As above that looks to be fine at 44t between arrows. Is the slot on the RH end of the exhaust cam level with the cam cover gasket face, and is the inlet cam either level or slightly behind?

Re: APE manual camchain tensioner adjustment.

Sorry for the thread hijack but,,,, Correct adjustment on the ape is essential as I have just found out to my despair !! I think my newly built 1100r has just jumped a tooth, My fault entirely as i though it would be better a little slack, rather than a little tight. I will need to check, tonight i...

Re: APE manual camchain tensioner adjustment.

Too tight will cause more damage than a little slack, so it's good you can still here it rattle occasionally. So long as the cam chain isn't slopping about it'll be fine. I do agree, but the hyvo chain does need to be quite tight to stop it jumping teeth. I know this from when I was wrestling the c...
