Re: APE manual camchain tensioner adjustment.

Sorry for the thread hijack but,,,, Correct adjustment on the ape is essential as I have just found out to my despair !! I think my newly built 1100r has just jumped a tooth, My fault entirely as i though it would be better a little slack, rather than a little tight. I will need to check, tonight i...

Re: APE manual camchain tensioner adjustment.

Too tight will cause more damage than a little slack, so it's good you can still here it rattle occasionally. So long as the cam chain isn't slopping about it'll be fine. I do agree, but the hyvo chain does need to be quite tight to stop it jumping teeth. I know this from when I was wrestling the c...

APE manual camchain tensioner adjustment.

Following my recent top-end rebuild on my J the cams are still tapping from time-to-time, so I thought I'd reset the (manual APE) tensioner whilst it was cold, following APE's instructions to wind it in by hand when cold, but instead of winding it back 1/4 turn I tend to go one flat on the bolt. No ...

Re: My CBX build

I'm loving this even if nobody else is! I particularly like the solution to the eye-watering camchain tensioner blade. I have a couple of old KTMs where a lot of the parts are obsolete, so to make the bikes work you need to improvise. I get scowled at by some of the purists, but I'd rather th...

Re: Z1000J - the story continues....

The block and head didn't arrive until last weekend, so it has been a slog this week but we have life! :D https://youtu.be/mpJYSwBQ43g It goes nicely quiet once it warms up, and there looks to be plenty of oil under the cam cover where there should be. There's a few little jobs left to do, but all b...

Shims wanted

Afternoon all, I'm going to need a few shims for my J having just rebuilt the top end and would also like a few spares as I'll probably have to change some once I get a few miles on it and everything has settled. I definitely need a 260 and a 275 but could probably do with a few smaller ones too so ...

Z1000J square tank

I bought this tank earlier this year as my round tank had sprung a leak, where I've decided to persevere with the round tank as it's right for an '81. I finally got around to checking to see if it's fuel tight last Friday, where unfortunately there's a leak around the sender flange - I think that at...
