Re: help

Gravity fuel tap is best turned off when bike not running - more prone to leaks than later vacuum taps. Someone gave me a tip to turn the tap off a little while before you park up in garage - to let it drain the bowls a bit. If it is just weeping from one or more carb overflow pipes and not all it i...

Re: Engine Installation

Hi Paul, I found it easier to get the main stand and brake pedal installed before the swing arm went on. The main stand can come up a bit higher and the spring is not such a bitch to stretch into place. Likewise there is a danger you will mark the frame finish if you are fitting the brake lever retu...

Re: Oil Overfilled

Best not to run these old motors with too much oil in. It will tend to force the excess out via the crank breather system I would guess. Symptom of that would be wet oil in base of a standard air box. Always fill mine lower than full mark and leave to stand overnight before trying to get a final lev...

Re: 1978 Z1000a1 Wiring Harness Routing

I built a Z1-R which will be similar. There is a video you can pause to see a lot of how the loom goes on - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtAwler4L4w and if you look at the photo story there are a few pics - especially around the battery box components & wiring. http://www.zedrider.co.uk/z1-r....

Re: !978 Z1R windscreen colour

Mine had the original Shinkolite screen -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtAwler4L4w

and there are some still pics of it that will enlarge if you click them here - http://www.zedrider.co.uk/z1-r.html

I would describe it as dark grey tint - not bronze.

ZRX Special Build Photo Story **Out Now**

Hi People, I got really interested in a recent ZRX custom build project. Re: How to remove ??

I think the key number is what you can see on end of barrel.
If it is some people can cut you one from the number without a key to copy.

I used simoniz tough black satin spray http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Simoniz-Large-Tough-Satin-Black-Aerosol-Car-Auto-Spray-Paint-500ml-SIMVHT51D-/370978206919?epid=1448990235&hash=item56600634c7:g:fesAAOSwt6ZWWJDQ Seemed ok on Z1-R to match the original finish. Cans used to be blue but the adve...
