Take it out and check that it's moving freely throughout it's range.

Do you have the pinch bolt done up or not?

There is still a few things to sort out and finalize before the initial base build is complete. Once thats done it's a case of stripping it down again finishing a few bits off polishing / chroming, powder coating and spraying etc... Then the build with new bearings, nuts and bolts throughout etc... ...

Coming on nicely there Phil. Looking at the marks on the seat foam, it looks like you're gonna take another slice off of the pillion section? I hope you do, it will improve the profile of the bike. :up Thanks Steve. Yes the area marked in red is being removed. I have still got some work to do on th...

Hi Paul, Most Jap bikes are 1 tooth to big on the front (aprox 3 teeth on the back). The way I do it is to setup the gearing so that I am just off the redline in top flat out. I was going a bit quick on a zx12r to get it right but it's apart of the fun right :) For any PC plods on here I was on a cl...

This is VERY strange. Things I would check are: That you are lining up (off setting) the rings correctly and you are sure you are putting the oil rings in correctly. Are you using the same pistons and is there any damage to the ring seats so the rings are being pinched and so not moving freely? Chec...

Z Boyer Bransden timing / ignition plate

Anyone got one laying around they would part with?

I've got the control box and the magnet that you bolt to the crankshaft so I just need the plate unless you have a complete kit going cheap.

Things I would check... Starting with the easy ones. Inlet rubbers - These are favourites for failing on older bikes not sealing due to ageing - hard, split, cracks, etc... Plugs - Check plug caps and plugs for cracks or tracking - check gaps - note colour see if one or two are noticeably different ...
