Re: New member form Cornwall
Hi Steve welcome to the club! Unfortunately it's a common thing that an old cam chain guide breaks off... The only thing to do is to replace it with a new one by taking the head and the barrels off. When you're doing that you might as wel change the camchain system completely just in case... If you ...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi myklexfox the rotor bolt can be taken out with a pneumatic wrench, as far as the rotor itself : be carefull! Don't use pliers to take it off, you might deform the metal disc thus causing the glue of the magnets to crack or even the magnets themselves ...if that should happen, you have a problem! ...

Hi Tim
I think you have a short in the right hand switchblock...or in the wires coming from the switchblock to the main harness.
Bike electrics ... strange world of technology...
Good luck!

Re: 1977 Z1000A1 Switchgear
Hi r3sc as you mentioned in your post: a different handlebar was fitted...it happened a lot of times in the past so the original undamaged switchgear halves are difficult to find. As Warren mentioned, you could try to find those of a Z650, you never know if you're lucky until you tried it. GrtZ Phil...

Re: Z1000A1 OEM Exhaust hanger brackets.
Hi Nigel as promised, pictures and measurements from the exhaust hangers. The dimensions are in millimeters and are "more or less" correct... The thickness of the steel plate is 2.25 mm Both of the hangers have on the upper inside a rectangular cage where an M10 self locking nut with fine ...

Re: ST recommission
Hi Pete I never lubricated the universal joint of the shaft. I only put copper grease on the splines as described in the shop manual. About your front fork: did you mount it in the correct way? Don't forget that you don't tighten the bolts of the lower yoke before you've tightened the one on the upp...

Re: ST recommission
Hi Pete glad to hear that your ST rides good! The best way to remove the old paint from the wheels is to strip them completely (tire, air valve and bearings) and "wash off" the old paint with cellulose thinner. Do it outside or you'll get dizzy from the fumes! Give the cellulose thinner th...

Re: Panels and Tank Interchangeability
Hi Mark as Chris allready mentioned: the tank and tail piece will fit. The side panels of a Z1,Z1A and Z1B will not fit to a Z900A4 or a Z1000. You need to change the place of the holes in the frame in order to attach them. You allso have a problem with the shape of the air filter box. The air filte...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi myklexfox the front bevel gear case is attached with 11 M6 bolts to the cranckcase. Make sure they're all out before attempting to remove the front bevel gear case. Mind the lenght of those bolts and put them at the correct place when putting the front bevel gear case back! Check the workshop man...
