Hi Mike
welcome to the club.
I would suggest you restore the bike yourself and keep her as a memory of your father...once you sold her, she won't come back.

Hi Uli
only the marking is different (KZT00A, KZT00J). For the rest they look just the same.

Hi Johno23
welcome to the club! 1962 is a good year of manufacturing, I know that since I'm allso 57 years "young".
Nice US Z1B you have there. Thanks for the picture.
Looking forward to see more pictures when you put the Z1000A1 back together.

Re: US import GPZ1100 maintained by cowboys
Hi JimBoUK take a look at this: https://z-fever.de/shop/de/product_info.php?info=p4166_zylinderkopf-b1.html I have no idea about the condition of the head but for 75 Euro I think it's worth the while...if you want to go back to original. Andre, the shop owner, understands English. Your cylinderhead ...

Re: 73 fuel tank
Hi John
put some pictures on, one picture says more than a thousand words...
Don't forget to take a picture from the underside of the tank and from the place where you put the rubbers that wrap around the frame tubes.
There must be a logical explanation.

Re: Z1000A2 Project
Hi Icky for replacing the front cam chain guide you don't need to split the crankcase. Removing the head and the barrels is enough. I would suggest that you replace the camchain with an original "endless" one and therefore you have to split the crankcase and remove the pistons from the cra...

Re: Unknown Disc Identity
Hi r3sc the disc was produced in the first 4 weeks of 1979. The 4 stands for the year; 1979, the A stands for the first 4 weeks of the year. It could be a Z1000 MK2 front disc allthough I'm not sure about the diameter. I 'm not familiar with Z650 parts . As far as I know it looks very much like a fr...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi myklexfox you don't need to remove the rotor to split the crankcases. If you want to remove the head, do it gentle. On each side there's a knock pin at the place where the M6 bolts are located. The knock pins are there to keep the head at the correct place when mounting it. Put a large screwdrive...

Re: Z1000ST restore
Hi myklexfox you don't need to remove the rotor before you can split the crankcase, if it's not necessary to remove it for changing the needle bearing of the starter clutch or the clutch itself, leave it on. When using a pneumatic wrench, you can just hold the rotor by hand, the rotor bolt will come...
