I've made a decision..... Like Pasc stated, it needs to have some form of one-way system between the front and back of the sump. I'm therefore going to fabricate a lightweight hinge and mount it at the front 'gate', allowing oil only to come forward from the rear of the sump, the hinge closin...

Sump baffling

Still suffering with the oil light flickering when under hard acceleration so thought I'd take a look in the depths of the lube system. Strainer is clean as a whistle, pump's fine so refitted with new seal (cheers Pigford). Looking at the sump casting, at the 'gates' in particular, would it be OK to...

To calculate compression ratio:- 1. Set piston at TDC. 2. Remove plug. 3. Add and record the amount of light oil you can get through the spark plug hole until it comes halfway up the plug threads. 4. Add this amount to your cylinder capacity 5. Now divide this amount by what you got in 6. This is yo...

Your other and simple option is to bore out the block to 70mm and fit standard Z1000 (1015cc) pistons. The compression ratio will automatically increase giving a tad more oomph

Personally I think although the Martins, as with any old cafe racer, handle much better with later cycle parts fitted (tyre width/choice etc) I still think they look much better as standard... unless of course it came with the std Zed front end :P Ah well, whatever you're bringing Paul, I'm sure it'...
