Re: Z1000J Tank and side panels wanted

Hi Neil, I've also got: a fuel level sender unit with float etc. an American 85mph speedo GPz1100 oil cooler and engine take-off (but no hoses) oil pressure sensor (which will fit the J take-off but not the GPz one with the oil cooler) Let me know if you're interested in any of this and I'll work ou...

Re: Z1000J Tank and side panels wanted

Great, I'll check out how much postage/courier will be (hopefully less than £30) and get back to you. I think I've got a fuel level sensor which I now recall is actually one of the 2 spare holes, so only one should need blanking off. I maybe have a couple of other small bits and pieces for a J too i...

Re: Z1000J Tank and side panels wanted

Hi Neil,
Thinking maybe around £90 ?
I see you're about 90 mins away from me (in Sutton Coldfield).
I could send you some more pics tomorrow or didn't know whether you'd want to see the tank first?
Not sure how much postage would cost.
Cheers,
Rick

Re: Z1000J Tank and side panels wanted

If you get stuck I've got a solid GPz1100b tank.
It's the same shape as the J and fits on mine.
You'd need to get the extra GPz holes for fuel pump and return feed capped (they're both threaded but taped over in the photo) but it should be fairly straightforward.

Re: Timing mark alignment

Maybe being over cautious, but if it's an old cam chain and a bit stretched but within service limit... I still think you might be a tooth out. I've just timed up a Z1000J with new chain and the "Ex" arrow was spot on with the face of the head. A bit of stretch and you could easily be a 1-...

Re: Triple shocks

Might be interested.
Have they been refurbed internally?
Guessing they're not NOS or would be worth a LOT more?
Could you give some eye-to-eye and diameter measures?
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Timing mark alignment

If the front chain run is taut, then I'd say that you could be a tooth out.
If the chain had stretched then the timing mark would be ABOVE the line of the cylinder head rather than below it.
Have you timed the inlet cam yet? That would tell you whether they both look out by a tooth.

Re: GPz1100 uni-trak

Very nice :up Might try to pick one up for my next project before they rocket up in price. Re the injectors, I suspect they may have been working fine before the cleaning. The graph is a little deceptive with the Y-axis, whereas the before/after flow rate figures suggest they were pretty good alread...

Re: Z1000J electronic speedo cable guide?

Blimey, that's a bit of a convoluted affair !
IIRC does it bolt to the calliper bracket ?
Don't suppose anyone's got one they want to sell ? (amongst their stash of hen's teeth and rocking horse pooh)
