Re-inventing the guide wheel
I have just installed a hydraulic press and need to change the guides on one of my A4 heads. My oven is just big enough to take the cylinder head. I was thinking that if I made a jig to hold the head at the correct angle, I could hydraulically push the hot guides out, which might be more accurate an...

Re: Keihin CR Special Smoothbores
The RS34s use the same rubbers as the Js which are still available, both new and pattern. Buzzard tells be that it is best to open up the ports to the same diameter as the inside of the rubbers, which I will be doing on my A4.

Re: Keihin CR Special Smoothbores
Is that 34 mikuni flatslides Ralph?... what was the engine spec? Rob Hi Rob. I have fitted RS34s to quite a few bikes from a 1325 with really lumpy cams .... all ran really well from the box. The ELR (1000R2) we fitted the CRs to was stock save a straight through Harris pipe and stock airbox with K...

Re: Keihin CR Special Smoothbores
Having had my fingers burned by a set of CRs on a mates ELR I would strongly advise against them. Myself and the Dyno guy gave up in the end and fitted a set of 34mm flat slides - worked straight out the box and were straight forward to set up perfectly on the dyno. CRs - never again. My mate was re...

Boring barrels
I was under the (mis)apprehension that Z900 barrels couldn't be bored to 1075cc, (72mm) but the Wiseco specs suggest otherwise.
What is the general consensus? Is 72mm a bite too far?
If not I need as set of 1015 barrels

Re: A4 Fluid Clutch
I had a look at the cost of a new GPZ900R slave piston on Cradley Kwaka and given how reasonable it is I thought I'd buy one and save myself some time machining stainless. I'm going to make it similar to the Falk one, but I'm going to machine off more 'unnecessary' material to make it lighter and mo...

Re: A4 Fluid Clutch
Thanks for all the help. With the pix and useful research I can now make one. I was toying with a ZRX master cylinder. I check with the wholesalers and discovered that the Rex repair kit is the same as the 900R, so I have ordered a pair of master cylinders from a second year 900R from DK. The neares...

Re: A4 Fluid Clutch
Rex ones should be fine. Has anyone got any pictures and measurements of the how the Falk system works. It's not a meanness thing I would just really like to have a go at making my own slave cylinder. I reckon the only really hard bit will be cutting the seal groove, but I can make a tool to do that...

A4 Fluid Clutch
I want to make a fluid clutch for my A4 custom build. Ideally I want matching but not too modern master cylinders and ideally fairly invisible. Venhill do a system that uses the original release mechanism, but the master cylinder is too modern for what I have in mind. I used a GPZ900R set up on CB's...

Re-chrome early 'arris Works Collection Zorst
My A4 has an original 'arris and it's a decently made piece of kit. I dearly love the howl of a straight through 'arris on a Zed so want to make it like new. Problem is that the header flanges seem to be made post chrome. I would quite like to use a set of original Zed collets and clamps, but am uns...
