Thanks again. Hopefully then, I should get my money back as I brought some other bits including a set of complete Z1R wheels and an old Z Kerker Exhaust which needs some welding, stripping and paint. Messing about with some old clocks but need a clock crimp ring.
I know they are available from cb750 site but don't need a pair and don't need new, just better than the totally butchered beyond use one that I have.

Depends how good the surface they are bolting too is, scratches, pitted etc. A smear of rtv won't hurt either way.

The oil in the sight glass is lower than the neutral switch so no you shouldn't need to drain. If concerned just lean the bike over to the right hand side.

If as you say neutral is between where 4th and 5th should be it sounds as if your input is rotating the shaft in the opposite direction to how it should.
If the engine is on the bench is the gear shift lever pointing forwards or backwards?

Not sure. I was at the ally pally auction 3 or 4 years back. Frank bought a restored pair. One for 18k plus commission the other for 22k plus commission. One week later and both were on his website at 43k each. There they languished for 18 odd months unsold. I think the did eventually sell them for ...
