With it all bolted-up you should not have 1/8" lateral movement, that suggests the bearings knackered or the collar is very worn or both.

I assume you refer to the brake failure lamp in the Tacho that's flashing? This, from memory, senses the rear taillamp is functioning correctly or is in circuit, triggered by the rear brake pedal & front brake lever. If the taillamp lamp is comming on when the brakes are applied & your failu...

Garn1,
Thanks, I have those same sketches and even though I have genuine NOS Z900 rings the 2nd ring is the same orientation as the Z1000 in your manual. I guess they must have changed for the Z900 too post publication of the genuine workshop manual.

Bedlow has a corker of an FS1E, an absolutely mint original bike absolutely untouched with all the old labels on etc. He had a Chrysler C300 SR8 last week, boy what a monster, bit quicker than my old Mondi.

Be blxxdy carefull with these repros! The damper spindle on the genuine shocks passes into the top trunnion and is secured with a grovver pin, this is blxxdy important given the forces involved and prevents the two separating. On all of the repros I have seen the grovver pin isn't present so your re...

Steve, The only difference in basic setup I'm aware of between USA carbs & European is the needle slide 'c' clip setting. Firstly does the bike fire-up on choke properly? If not its more than likely the emulsifier tubes are blocked or the passageway behind them OR the hole in the carb bottom int...

John, Just resolved a very similar problem on a Z900, turned out the topped-off valve stems were not parallel to the shank and worse some were flush with the top of the collets... This may sound Ok but as the valve completes its upward movement against the shim bucket the protrusion on the inside of...
