Re: New Member from Swindon
Hi Colin welcome to the club! Nice bike you have there, congratulations! I think it's normal that they run a bit rough when the engine is cold. Don't expect much of it for the first 5 miles but when the engine is warm, it should perform great. If not it'll need to be taken care of by a mechanic who ...

Re: Z1R restoration project
Hi Peter the wheels were originally painted satin black with polished rims and spokes . The original windscreen was smoke colour and to my knowledge no longer available from Kawasaki. There are replicas for sale. If you have a look on "Evilbay "you can find them. ... or you can have a look...

Re: Z1000 R2 chain guard
Hi Redzee when I restored my Gpz1100B2 I wasn't aware of it, I became aware of it when I restored my Z1000R2. I had ordered a chain kit for the Z1000R and when I tried to put the chain on the sprocket the chain was too short. Only then I started to look at the parts numbers of the R1 and R2 and disc...

Re: Z1R restoration project
Hello Peter
congratulations with your Z1R !
It seems to me that there's not very much to do in order to restore it. It's almost complete and in a good shape.
Original Z1R parts are expensive but there are good replica parts available.
Good luck with the restoration!

Re: Z1000 R2 chain guard
Hi Stugill if you have a Z1000R2 the swing arm is about 1 cm longer than the swing arm of a Z1000R1. As a matter of fact the Z1000R2 has the same swing arm as the Gpz1100B2. If that makes a difference for the chain guard? I don't know to be honest. Those chain guards are indeed very difficult to fin...

Re: Out for a run before the rain came
Hi Paul
the spacer between the hub and the rear brake caliper must be 31 mm long if you use the alloy wheel.
The spacer of the spoke wheel (original) is shorter.

Re: Out for a run before the rain came
Hi Paul
I would advise you to take the H wheels. They're original Kawasaki although they need a refurb. Just keep in mind that you'll need another spacer for the rear wheel.

Re: 1983 GPZ1100 A1 Restoration
Hi Zoso
I'll be following this restoration to see how the bike turns out so please post lots of pictures.
It's always great to buy a bike in boxes, you never know what you're going to find...always surprises, some good, others not so good.
As far as I can see you're almost there.
