Re: Rear Wheel Bearing Help

It looks like the bearing race is a mm or 2 wider than the spacer. So open your vice and put the item in it, with the race uppermost and the jaws only just touching the spacer, but with the race above the jaws. then back off the jaws fractionally and by using a socket the size of the spacer, knock t...

Re: Cannot remove stator from left hand cover

Sneak into the kitchen , fill the washing basin half full with boiling water from the kettle then float the case in it ( interior of cover uppermost). The Marving has a collector box that gathers the 4 downpipes in a flat 4 not a 2 above 2 configuration so it doesn't rob you of ground clearance when you bump up a perm. Once you remove it by penetrating oil/ heat and cold cycles/ gentle hammering on the bolt ( use a nut on the bolt to protect the threads and s...

Re: Restoration of a 1942 Willys jeep GPW Ford

( not uncommon at the time) 1 was for the shepherd, 1 for the gamekeeper and 2 spares. My father bought the shepherd's one, they were keeping the r...

Re: how to change worn gear shift rod

I've used Weaver's method to slightly widen the slot in the gearshift lever, to allow it to grip the splined shaft tighter. It's worked for 20k + miles so far

Re: Clock refurbishment

Peter Bond is good, he sorted a broken clock face for me . Downside was that the repainted and repaired speedo face in the clock came back with a rippled texture not a smooth original type texture on it.
