Re: Metric fine thread sizes
You might be better using a thread chaser rather than a thread tap as the chaser is less likely to remove material from the holes. Obviously is the threads are damaged a tap may well be needed, but initially I'd use a chaser if you're just cleaning out threads.

Re: Indicator relay switch - KZ900 A4 LTD 1976
The '76 A4's had two "indicator" relays.
The picture with the circled item on is where the hazard indicator lives & the normal turn indicator relay lives behind the left-hand side panel, just near the seat lock barrel.

Re: Did not expect this
Isn't Esso 99 octane ethanol-free in most parts of the country? I appreciate that it won't stay "fresh" as long as some of the specialist racing fuels and additives, but it's a lot cheaper! I was under the impression, according to the Esso web site, that in certain areas, (including the N...

Re: Needed; Z1B top yoke
Possibly DK Motorcycles, over here in Stafford area I think. I'm sure they import alot of Z1/Z900's & break some of them. They also sell alot of parts on Ebay.

Re: Tank question
I just use some engine oil, new of course not old stuff !! Just whatever I have on the shelf, blank off the fuel tap hole, tip some in & swill it around until it's covered all surfaces.
Depending upon how long you intend to leave it, periodically give it a swill around every few months.

Re: Z1000 Front engine mount bolt seized.
I'd try & avoid drilling it out unless there seems to be no other option. Drilling is more a "last resort" ! The longer you can leave the PlusGas soaking the better, I'd even apply a little heat where the bolt passes through both sides of the engine & the frame, but be careful if y...

Re: Bike lifts
Depending upon your budget, Probike have a good selection of lifts.
One of my mates has one of these, https://probike.co.uk/lifts-stands/moto ... issor-lift & for the money I thought it is an excellent bit of kit.
You do need a compressor though to operate it.

Re: Z900 Cylinder head cover plug
It's a common-ish problem & has been for years. I had one pop out on the North Circular in 1980, on the way to France !! I'd serviced my bike before leaving & fitted new plugs as a precaution. Luckily I had taken the old ones & gasket glue with me, how lucky was that ?!! Maybe I had a pr...

Re: stop lamp flashing
were's the relay Steve ........electrics are not my strongest point  It should be attached by a rubber sleeve, under the fuel tank close to the two ignition coils, left hand side. I think you should be able to see it if you look under the tank, between the top of the motor. I think there's a ...

Re: Z900a4 1976 harness question
The black, finned gadget in one of your pictures is the diode pack for the hazard light flasher. The two un-connected terminals, the ORANGE & BROWN wires should connect to the hazard light flasher relay. The standard unit is the type that only has two terminals. This however has no affect on the...

Re: Identify Forks
So, could it be that the original posters forks are from either a Z650 or A4, depending upon what internal springs are fitted ?

Re: Identify Forks
They could also be Z900-A4 forks as they are also the same 36mm.
Mudguard stay mounts are not used on the A4's.

Re: cam timing....
I seem to remember if you align the crankshaft correctly to the "T" mark for cylinders 1 & 4 you then position the exhaust camshaft according to the manual, (you should also place the inlet camshaft in position to support the camchain - this also stops any slack causing the cam chain t...
