Re: Restoration of a Gpz 750 R1 (1982)
Hello men today I started cleaning up the frame. In the past a "bobberbuilder" (in my personal humble opinion a bikedestroyer), added several pieces of metal on the frame and cutted off the rear part. I started by removing the added pieces of metal. The exhaust hanger came first. DSCN0232....

Re: Z 1000 ST ELR
Hi men an update on the Z1000ST ELR I imported her and it went smooth, no problems with the customs office and I got a certificate of conformity. Before I was able to get a license plate on my name, my brother in law bought her... He got a license plate and an insurance on his name but I had to brea...

Restoration of a Gpz 750 R1 (1982)
Hello men this time I'm going to try to restore a wreck of a Gpz750R1 from 1982. I bought the wreck a few months ago in northern France. It's the most horrible bike I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot of wrecks during the past ten years. The rear part of the frame was cut off and one of the previou...

Re: Z1B rubber key holder
Hi men I did read somewhere, I don't know where it was, that the people in the US had the habit of leaving the key in the ignition switch when the bike was in their garage. To prevent the inside of the lock being damaged (little tiny springs) by the key when it sat there for days, weeks, months,... ...

Re: Mk2 Blue paint code
Hi Rob Kawasaki gave only a name to the colour. The code to mix the paint is a well kept secret and yes, it's metallic. If you have a part with the original colour on it your paint supplier can mix a paint that looks very similar. That's how I always do it and the results are satisfying but the pain...

Re: 1973 Z1 for sale
Hi Glenn
it's a stunning bike!
With all that work done and money spent, the new owner will have a magnificent bike.
Great job!
I hope you can sell it for a correct price because it's worth it.

Re: seat prop
Hi Keith
the seat hinge of an A1 had an extra piece of sheet metal welded on which acted as some sort of stopper to prevent the seat resting on the side cover.
In the parts list the seat hinges of an A1 and an A2 have different parts numbers but they're not visible on the diagram.

Re: New member 1st post
Hi Steve a very nice bike, congratulations! Adding a second front disk is a good idea, changing the 4 in 4 for a 4 in 1 is not such a good idea. Others on here would do anything to obtain an original exhaust. If there are holes in your exhaust I would understand your plan. If the exhaust is good, ju...

Re: GPz1100B2 Cam sprockets. Incorrect assy.
Hi Alan not sure about my statement but if the exhaust and the intake camshaft were positioned at the correct timing, there was no influence. The question is, did the previous mechanic started by putting the exhaust camshaft in first? If you do that correctly and you take the indentation on the righ...

Hi Ultim8pc
it's about time you start rebuilding it again!
But I understand, life and the job gets in the way, other projects come up and are more urgent.
Just keep it, don't sell it, you'll regret it if you do.

Re: camshafts for z1000 A1 wanted
Hi John
as far as I know: yes they're at the same position, it's easy to swap them. Make sure you have the correct bolts and use a non permanent locking agent.

Re: camshafts for z1000 A1 wanted
Hi 777EMU what Z1streetfighter71 says is correct, you can use any camshaft you want, they're all the same but...take care of the sprockets! Your bike, a Z1000A1 has a sprocket with 30 teeth.(Cranckshaft with 15 teeth, camchain 122 links) The Z1000MK2 (A3 and A4), the Z1RII (D3) and the Z1000ST (E1-E...
