Flange Info - press it or screw it?

Does anyone know how the steel flange is attached to the alloy hub? I'm pretty sure that I can get a new steel flange machined up probably do it in stainless, but I need to get the old one off. Obviously I don't want to attack it with a press if there is a machine thread under it all. Has anyone got...

Re: Rear Hub Refurb - Is this possible?

Those hubs are somewhat scarce because they always used to rot

What would be the most common replacement option?

Re: Rear Hub Refurb - Is this possible?

Thanks guys, it has gone too far to be 'dressed up' I was hoping that someone had an engineering solution, pehaps a new flange that could be pressed or welded on. Looks like its going to have to be a new hub.

Rear Hub Refurb - Is this possible?

Hi all - just started getting to grips with a rescue on my 1977 Z1000A1. The frame is at the powder coaters and I have sent a load of kit off for chrome and zinc plating. Next job is to sort out some of the alloy bits for vapour blasting. The hubs really need it as they are a complete furred up mess...

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start

Thanks guys - as much as I like the royal blue I reckon it's got to be the bluey blue that looks green with a blue tinge of green. Given that all the pics look bloody ace and I would be chuffed with any of them I am happy that close enough is close enough. I won't be spraying the bike I will leave t...

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start

I think that I'm beginning to get my head around this colour thing now. If I read it right the vagaries of paint and paint processes during the 70's led to a variety of shade and colour hues that make it impossible to have a single CORRECT colour. In my instance I want to return the bike to the Blue...

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start

Cheers Garry - looks like I might have the correct tail lamp in that case as well https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BX0DUSL0e6A/WQdivjjOJ9I/AAAAAAAADGM/JEiDoJYYj4kOBoFJzU40WW72Z-QrpEibQCLcB/s320/IMG_0291.JPG The lamp on the right has no rear reflectors, does that look original to you? Did you get my pm ref...

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start

Cheers Guys - So I have a decent headlamp shell, a set of carbs and a fat ass tank, panel and ducktail to spray. I'm thinking of re-chroming the stand and peg mounts along with some other kit and will start stripping the forks and callipers this weekend ready for vapour blasting and powder along wit...

Re: Paying for membership

As I said to Lacy, what was the error?

I get this on a separate page

Z1 Owners Club of Great Britain Membership

Argh! I can't find your details for the current session. This should not happen!!

Please email admin@z1ownersclub.co.uk and tell them about this.

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start

On a totally unconnected note, if you want to sell one of those rear calipers, let me know. Hi Mark - thanks for the tip - I wouldn't really know what the stuff is worth but as soon as I sort out the calipers that I want to use I would be happy to sell what's left. I'm sorting out the Powder coatin...

Whoops, no offence meant - I think that I should have checked your signature before trying to be clever. TBH I'm pretty jealous now.

Re: Yamaha YBR125

Cheers Col - this would make a good game -
if it was a stroker . . .
it would be half as good and twice the price! ;-)

It's nuts what has happened to two strokes recently. Just thought I would have a punt. Good luck with the sale.
