Re: KZ1000 carbs
Ian,
Why don't you let us know what the issues are and what you've done to your carbs so far. Duff running isn't always the carbs, even when you think it is, so you have to rule out lots of other stuff also.

Re: Health Warning: you never know what's round the corner.....
Sorry to hear that, I hope you make a full recovery. None of us are getting any younger and no doubt many of us may have health issues due to the ageing process. Guess we have all got to try to stay as fit as possible and keep our minds and bodies active. Looking after our bikes is a no doubt great ...

Re: engine identity
Here's engine numbers from some 900s I've had:
z900a4 - Z1E093793
z900a5 - Z1E123346
z900a5 - Z1E103458
So, I'd say you have a very late z900a5 engine.

Indeed, prices are a bit all over the place.
However, there will always be buyers who are prepared to pay top money for nice, original bikes.

I'd agree with your figures with the exception of the 77 Z1000. I'd say that's more like £8k.

Finding any J tank in good is very hard indeed, so the OP's options are limited.

Re: z900 a4
John Sorry to hear that - sounds like a nightmare. I think you are saying that oil is getting between the valve stem and head interface or the weld? Does sound like your best bet in another head, but then you'd still need to get it checked and reworked. You can use a z900 or 1000 head as they are id...
