I time my two by using the test light method as per Haynes manual. Fit a bulb to the points spring blade and to ground on cylinder head - the bulb should light just as it gets to the F mark... if not move the points plate and/ or the points adjusters until it does. Seems to give me better results th...

What a cracker you've got there. I like the second pic best cos the lighting's great and it reminds me a bit of the Z900 brochure cover - bike by the water. Cheers from Mark

Hi Keith You are getting a regular little production line going with these Z1-Rs matey. Yet again this one looks like it will be a credit to you. I would vote for the longer rear fender cos I'm not a fan of the tail tidy look - best for the track IMHO. Agree with Padders - please keep the pics comin...

Ace pics Kev
What's the secret of capturing the bike motion so well - is it just a super camera or what settings are you using?. My fuji digital seems to have a slight delay between press and shoot which makes it impossible to get close up speed shots like those. :wall

Thanks Alan I'm up to speed with the early pics now - a bit of a horror story there with all the splits in the motor. looks like you are getting past the main hurdles now. Will you be able to run a normal tacho drive off that head or will it have to become an electric one?? I reckon you should stick...

Fair play to you for keeping on with it and not getting too down when the donor motor didn't deliver all you wanted. I found these pics real interesting - a few of the early ones have stopped working - could you re-do the links cos I would like to catch up on what you covered earlier. Thanks and goo...

That's a real bummer,
Just promise yourself that it will arise in better shape all round after the restoration - we know you can do it!!
Fingers crossed it's not too bad when stripped down. Loads of advice on here to help once you found the broken bit.
Cheers from Mark

Me too Adrian, it would have been lovely to get yours, mine and Steve's and any other stock examples lurking on here to one venue at the same time - perhaps we should start a thread and do a virtual 650 meet on here :?: :?: ... if the triples guys can do it, why oh why can't we (last bit sung in a w...
