Re: Shim under bucket, GPZ type Titanium retainers to sell or swap.
In theory the clearances would be the same, just had a thought though, on Unitrak 1100 engines (which are shim under bucket) the shim sits in a recess on the valve spring retainer, you might have to change the valve spring retainers, which would be a head off job, but taking the head off is not much...

You'll also have to take the cams out to change a shim, which is a right ball ache, why do you want to...

Re: Low Compression Engine
The low compression will make it slow and feel a bit unresponsive, it'll probably run on paraffin though.

Do you know that it's the same as a J one as it says it's for the earlier engines.

J Engine Alternator Casing Wiring Plug
Has anybody got a spare plug for the Alternator casing on a J engine, I've removed my alternator and need to plug the hole in the casing, we have tried filling the hole with instant gasket but it leaks with a steady drip when the bike is on it's side stand. The plug isn't available as a separate par...

Re: KZ1000 A2 - Gasket set
I've used Athena gaskets with no problems, though I haven't used their head gaskets as I've got Wiseco 1170 pistons.
They're only bits of stiff paper, I doubt if genuine Kawasaki paper is better than Athena paper

Re: 1984 Z1100R cam timing
I've got one at home, it's a supplement to the Z1000J manual, the Clymer manual is possibly better for explaining how to time the cams

Re: 1984 Z1100R cam timing
From memory yes, Z1100R has the same engine as a Unitrak (ZX1100A) but all "J" engines use the same method to set the cam timing

They just push in from the bottom, they should push in with your fingers, no need to heat the carbs (or I've got particularly strong fingers)
