Also need top and bottom yolk, 2 x front discs and 1 ally cam end cap. Rather do a deal with someone in the club t...

z1000j parts catalogue?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a parts catalogue for a z1000j. Picked up a 95% complete bike in boxes today and need to see whats missing. Found a service manual on the net but having trouble locating a parts list.

Points worked fine for years and years, setting the dwell angle is the way to go. I had fireworks coming from the 1 & 4 points on the 650. This obvisously caused a bad misfire and hard starting. After faffing with new points and condensor it was no better. After mucho reading up on various forum...

They were pattern seals, however the ones i replaced were oem, albeit 40 yo. No1 smoked with them 2,3 & 4 didn,t. After replacement with pattern seals 1 smoked 2,3 & 4 still didn't.
the bit i don't get is that 2 &3 have lower compression but don't smoke.

There is a trick if the ht leads are too short as they are not replacable in the coil. Its not ideal but works fine. Cut the existing ht lead back until you get clean core wire. Get a thin steel self tapping screw about an inch long. Cut the head off, sharpen the cut end and screw into the cut end o...

Back of the valves was dry and oil free when I took them out to re seat them. Did new valve seals at the same time.
I have a spare engine and was thinking I could swop the head over and see what happens. If it still does it it must be cylinder / ring related. If not, it must be head related.

It had oil in the bores and was turned over every couple of months. Bores and rings look fine although having checked every other obvious possibility it may come to new rings.
smoke is evident from almost initial starting. I would expect a crack to show itself more evidently when warm?
