I had a call from my powder coater this morning to say my rear wheel was ready. I had a little time free, so in it went... :D All I need now is to go over it to make sure all is tight, then the weather to pick up so I can take it for a shakedown. http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l125/Coosey/Zed/DSC...

If it changes with temperature or whether you lean the bike to the left or right it's most likely cam end float. Is it an Ltd based on the J motor? If so it seems to be pretty normal....

I'm certainly interested in coming along for the weekend with my J. And assuming I'm not too hungover I'd be more than willing to spanner in the paddock! :)

Z1000J or similar 14mm rear master cylinder

Afternoon chaps,

Does anyone have a good one of the above kicking about? Mine works fine but I want to rotate the inlet, where on removing the boot it looks like it lived under the sea for a while and there's no way I can budge the circlip without destroying something...

Cheers,

Sorry but I don't have them.. After searching high and low I remembered that I sold the yokes with everything attached.. Sorry about that

Cheers
Lee

No worries Lee, many thanks for looking. The bracket would have been bolted to the top of the right-hand fork lower.

Ah bugger, if you do and I'd asked sooner it could have arrived in the same box...

Cheers, though it'd be 15 quid by the time it gets through my letter box into the jaws of my killer dog.

Hopefully someone might have one kicking about that they're no longer using?

Z1000J Brake Pipe Clip

Evening all, Would anyone have a right-hand front brake pipe clip that bolts to the top of the fork slider from a Z1000J in reasonable condition kicking about? It's item 92037A on the diagram in the link below - the one without the bracket for the speedo cable as that's on the left! http://www.cmsnl...

Ian, how long has it taken you from buying the bike to finishing it, only asking because my own J is taking longer than I thought, though this is down to engine problems I found. Finishing it? HA HA HA ohhhhhh..... It's not finished and probably won't be for some time! I bought it as a dog a...

The cush drive rubbers? They were going to go into the rear wheel that's on there now as those ones are past their best, but as I'm now replacing that wheel entirely they're still sat in the garage....

I managed a few hours in the garage today, which led to a fair bit of progress. Caliper brackets were made, a tyre fitted and the front Dymag is now in. :D The (110) tyre profile looks correct, so I now just need to press on with the rear. It's almost there - I just need to weld a bracket to the swi...

The rear can be picked up for peanuts, is 18 x 3.5" and gives about 8mm more sprocket offset than a stock wheel. :)

It's just a shame that the front is 16"...

Phew, got there then. AL Nearly, it just all needs to come together now... I'll give you a shout about that tyre sometime soon if it's still kicking about? :) Could that be a VFR 750 rear wheel? Looking good. Yep, right on the money! If you squint it almost looks like a Dymag... Any idea abo...

Plans are afoot. The rear wheel arrived last week and will fit quite simply, needing a few mm facing off the sprocket carrier face to allow correct chain alignment with a ZRX front sprocket (530, down from the current 630). My MOT man kindly let me play with his lathe last Friday, so that bit is now...

So, I finally saw reason and sold the Dymags on to a man who knows exactly what he's buying and will crack-test them before use. Although they were a lovely thing and in the perfect size too, common sense prevailed... I'd have been daft to use them on the pothole-covered roads that grace this fair l...
