Starter motors are not rated to run continually and should only be used for a couple of seconds at a time or can get hot and burn out it sound like your starter clutch to me common, on z650, engine out i am afraid i am told you can get to it while engine in situ ,but i reckon this would be like taki...

Hi If you still have points system fit this first and try, i believe you can leave dyna coils on,get hold of a Gunson tester and observe each cylinder ignition in turn by screwing tester into plug hole,have you set up timing with a strobe you say you have cleaned carbs but i had an indentical fault ...

Use RTV silcon loctite 5910(Halfords) let it nearly go off then fit cam cover and tighten in correct order it should not leak then Cheers Pauljac...
