Can any GS1000 experts on here tell me what the difference is between the early slide carb head and the 1980 onwards CV carb head? Is the inlet tract bigger on the CV model, or was it just a change of the inlet rubbers. I know the valves are the same part number, so that didn't change. The early mod...

[quote="Pigford"] Dug out some bling - my braided throttle cables  http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g95/markwakz1a/Photo0888_zps3cd2c324.jpg Please put some sleeving on those braided cables, they act like a file without - the hole in this swing-arm was caused by a braided brake hose....

Sorely tempted, but I like the 8 valve GS motor, so I'm leaning towards keeping it that way.

PM me a price though.

I've got a lovely GSX1000 sz katana engine with a flowed head that will go straight in that complete with big carbs, strong motor. Just put a newly built 1170 in the reason for the 1000 sitting on the bench :D http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y453/nickwood66/IMG_0745_zpsa4a58d1d.jpg picture is o...

GS1000 - which way to go

Got my new toy, Thanks Spence, top man. I've loved the GS1000 since I had an early fluted tank model when I was a kid and always wanted another. http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff454/needaz1100r/gs1000-2_zpse7e4d753.jpg http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff454/needaz1100r/gs1000_zps736936d2.jpg...

Mickz1a,'stafford, whats there guys?' a few old blokes having dick measuring competitions, a lot of rivet counting and later on a few old drunks talking bo**ox. Well, that's the Z1 owners club for you. ! And at the end, all the autojumble stall holders buy each others stuff - stuff you'd put...

I've just been speaking with Andy, he seems a good guy. He's going to be, in the near future, using a NOS Z1000R wiring loom I have to pattern two Z1100R ones for me. If anyone else wants one, it would be a good move to get one done at the same time. I'm not going to put prices up in public, because...

That's a fair point Al, easy to weld the new side plates to the old brace.

I've got a couple of 1100R mudguards so I can do a bit of measuring and comparing.

It seems harsh for a poor defenceless mudguard, but once I've ground out the rivets so I can use the profile of the stay to make a Z1100R shaped one and rivet that back in it will be restored to be live once more as a more valuable part.

It could all go horribly wrong!!

Z1000J Front Mudguard

Aesthetic condition not important, but would like a straight one.

I am going to destroy it, to start with, so I can make a Z1100R style stay to fit, so the cheaper the better.

Thanks
