EFE
The EFE appeared in Jan87 superbike so any before that would have the GS1000 in it as it was retired and sold at the end of 1986 season but was built 84/85.
So look around that time Phil

Looking good already!
What is the unbraced Ally arm on the bench, that looks exactly what I am looking for my project?
Is it an unbraced JMC?

Looking at the wiring diag the horn switch has one...

What I meant was its not like the clutch or sump where its generally bathed in the stuff. I have never known one leak from the area your talking about and have changed several and always put that gasket on dry, so I would check the faces for damage before re-installing. If in doubt use Suzuki or kaw...

Gasket stuff.
I use SUZUKI unibond stuff but its expensive. (but cheaper than the kawa equivalent)
On the cover that you are replacing I probably would not use anything as their is no hot oil behind that cover the gasket itself should be enougth to make it watertight.

I might be wrong but the horn earth is through the casing of the switch being bolted to the bars which inturn is earthed by being bolted to the chassis components. There is no direct earth wire that runs up through to the Horn. Perhaps your chassis earth on the back of the engine is not clean enough...

(just because its new it doesnt mean its not faulty) Measure the volts coming off the alternator before they go into the regulator? using the ac240v reading...
