Re: Classic bike track days Cadwell
I feel like crap today, knackered and dehydrated
Re: New here
The Wayfarer was pretty grim in the 90s, they used to have discos on Wednesdays attended by desperate BY employees and desperate women from Stoke and Stafford A few pints in the Rising Sun was a lot better when I wanted to get away from the BT college, I went up there by bike a few times, some reall...
Re: New here
I did loads of BT courses at Yarnfield just up the road from Stone in the 90s, had many happy evenings in the Rising Sun and avoided the Wayfarer.

Re: Z1000J Build
My 4 way connector has been good for 500 miles, but I have wrapped it in self amalgamating tape from work to be safe, can't remember the make of the tape, but we use it on antenna connections on cranes and it survives all weather's and salt water.

Re: Diode in Z1000R wiring loom
I think it's to stop voltage feeding back into the fuel guage, but I'm not sure about that, I did work it out about 9 months ago when I was trying to sort out my standard loom (soon gave up on that rat's nest)
I also have one if you need one, pretty sure mine is ok.

Re: oil pressure light / switch
Is it not the other way around Paul, the switch is in the earth return from the bulb meaning earthing the wire will light the bulb. If this happens you know you have a faulty switch. If the bulb stays out you have a loom bulb issue. Definitely that way round on J engines - you find these things out...

Re: Shocks for an '82 Z1000 LTD
I've got budget Hagons on my CB400 which work okay and Konis on my Z which work better, but at some point I will be replacing the Konis with something better - but they won't fit on your bike.

I don't think she knows how much I've spent on the big green monster in the garage, then again I don't want to work that out either.

I'd need longer arms to go with them, though I think it has quicker steering than the GSX750ET I had in the 80s and I used to throw that about

Re: Best way to sell a "special"?
I am aware of that, I'm also aware of my bank balance and my wife who will say "Buy it if you want it" but then I'll be treated to the stony silence of death.

Re: Best way to sell a "special"?
Those lovely '90's cocktail colour schemes. You need Fieldscheer acid etched leathers to go with them. I'm afraid mine's a little bit modded although it does come with all standard parts, spare tank, genuine Yamaha fairings etc, etc. Robw, Al etc will recognise the bike. It's the one they cant keep...

Re: Z1000J swingarm length
Last thing I want is less offset, that'd give it more trail, I was thinking of increasing the offset to reduce the trail, a weird one where increasing the wheelbase speeds up the steering. BTW it handles nicely in fast sweeping bends, it's just needs heaving on it's side in tight bends, I could alwa...
