Re: Weird headlamp brackets?
I remember contemporary road tests complaining about blowing headlamp bulbs. Sometimes lasting only a few hours. I think the temporary fix was to remove the bracket under the headlamp bowl but this would cause the headlamp to droop downwards in use. Maybe this was a factory mod to alleviate the droo...

Re: Ignition advancer
All very interesting stuff and I'm glad you're making some headway. I cannot stress enough the value of a dyno run to check fueling. I had wrongly thought in the past that a dyno chart was only useful when in the pub, a follow on from my Fizzie days when there was alwys someone claiming theirs would...

Re: J - Refresh
This has been a absolute marathon. On the plus side I have an acceptable finish on the frame, on the minus side I now have shares in Frosts. A rattle can job and the first I have undertaken in a very long time I have had to apply a base coat which despite my best efforts with preparation revealed ma...

Dave, I forgot to say that my issue was diagnosed on a dyno. They can check the fuelling at all revs.

Re: Z1100ELR rear brake issue
Hi Dave, hope all is well with you other than bike woes. I had a low speed fouling issue which was traced to spark plugs. I mistakenly used the wrong grade and was advised to visit my local motor factors for replacements to avoid the dreaded counterfeit NGK plugs from eBay. Al (Zorded) will tell you...

Many if not most show attendees would be in the high risk group I’d say

This is the weekend.
Everything is in place and atmospherics look favourable. The plan is to do the first coat after lunch tomorrow and a second on Sunday.

Re: J - Refresh
This is embarrassing but as I’m sure we have all been guilty of at some point, life just seems to get in the way. I’ve made some progress in the nearly 4 years, yes that long, since I last posted on this subject. Over that time Mikey has refreshed some bolts for me, I’ve purchased some parts (has an...

Re: New member
I had to come down one evening in my car as my van wouldn’t start, I reckon that was 2006. I still have the same car. I always wanted a Z1000 and having a little go on yours, very trusting and generous of you, it convinced me it was the right thing to do. I bought mine in 2007. I kept that bike for ...

Congratulations on making it to retirement Steve.

Yours was the first Z1000 I rode. Do you remember?
