Warwick, I had loads of hassle doing my brakes a while ago. I fitted new calipers and it turned out that one side didn't line up square with the disc, so as you applied the brakes the squiffy one had to slightly bend the disc to grab hold. The disc was acting like a big spring washer. There was not ...

I think 'Keyster' make these kits, cheapo variety, but have used em in the past on me Z1A and were OK.
Cost about ?12 per carb, includes gasket, main & air jets, float valve, needle & emulsion tube, and all other bits, good value.

Newtronics optical ignition was OK in its day, better than points, but a bit fussy :| Its very important to set timing out of the daylight/sun, as this will confuse the systems optical sensors :!: A dyna system is leagues ahead, and as it happens, I will have a set for sale soon, low mileage; Dyna S...

Hi, you can take a bit off the valve stems, but not off the shims as they're hardened & may break up if mucked with! Do a search as I'm sure this has been covered a while ago  Once set, recheck after 500 miles as its a new head, to be safe :!: Set 'em at the top limit of the tolerance, 0.0...

Netley Marsh Euro-jumble

Netley Marsh Euro-jumble is on weekend 7-9th Sept, largest do in Europe :!:
I was thinking of going on the Sunday as they have a 'garage clearout' day which would be a good thing
Just West of Southampton, at the end of the M27 and is a huge event
Anyone else interested :?:

kev, the stronger advance springs won't hurt, as the advance may just be coming in a bit later. Check with a strobe to see when its moving. Weaker springs are worse as the advance will kick in early and this may lead to pre-ignition/detonation/pinking, which is BAD NEWS  At least you're makin...

Don't panic :!:
Remember back in the old days (70s - 80s) all engines used oil :|
If you have to keep topping it up, at least it keeps fresh oil in it

Is the clutch lever easily operated or heavy :?:
I'd whip the clutch cover (r/h) off and inspect plates, as if a few years old the fibre plates could have started to disintigrate :?
Failing that, remove l/h cover and take clutch push rod out & give a good clean & check its not bent
