Re: newer 'old' bikes

Been out on the 1100 a few times now - very pleased with it, feels like a proper big, heavy 'old school' lump for a short-arse like me haha! However I can't say that I prefer it to the 750 - they ride differently and are more suited to differing tasks, IMO. Therefore I shall be keeping them both (wh...

new ignition keys

hi all - I'm looking to get spare ignition keys cut for my three Kawasakis - kz900a4, zephyr 1100 and 750. I'm located near Heathrow - anyone know a good shop/dealer where I can get the blanks and then get the keys cut? Thanks

Re: newer 'old' bikes

Agreed - and there's some seriously good looking iron in those photos. :) I'm going to stay with the original spec on both mine - just prefer my bikes to be like that, TBH. Its just as rare to see a Zephyr round this way as it is to spot any of the 70s Z's. I'm sure there'll be a few at the local bi...

newer 'old' bikes

As you can see from my profile, I have a kz900a4. I now have these two sat alongside - I was really keen to see what the first round of 'retro' bikes were like compared to the 70s icons upon which they were (allegedly) modelled. Anyone else on here have any knowledge or own any of the zephyrs? zr110...

nice bike

Saw a nice 900A4 in a car park near Englefield Green, Surrey today - sadly it was missing one sidepanel.
Anyone on here?

Re: Same for me ...

Coffee shop - that was Starbucks at Sainsbury's, Staines Bridge. Bike parking area is about as far away from the coffee shop as its possible to be - yeah, right. - bike goes where I go, and where I can see it - hence up on the pavement right outside the door haha! not currently connected to w...

Same for me ...

Bloody cold, but too nice a day to miss out, so did a tour of the local roads on the 900 and the obligatory stop at the coffee shop. Couldn't feel my hands n feet when I got off - age creeping up on me!

good point, bunny.. I'm not such a rivet-counter that swapping to Allen heads would give me sleepless nights  - far better the bike runs sweetly, and I can attend to those little things that always need doing, with the minimum of fuss. think I'll look for a replacement carb bowls Allen screw se...

got the little ratchet set today - worked a treat. One loose screw, gave it a tweak, seems to have worked. Good point about the float heights, and I will get round to checking them. Had the fuel pipes off today - noticed that there's a weep from the fuel tap when switched to 'OFF' - looks like the t...

900A4 carb bowls removal

hi all, I'm blessed (!) with small hands/fingers. My 900A4 could do with the float bowl gaskets on cyls 1 and 2 being replaced (persistent fuel weep despite attempts to check tightness of screws with a 90deg angled screwdriver - not a brilliant fit). Is it possible to do this with the carbs in-situ?...

"ACF50 is not good on air cooled engines I've found. It turns into a brownish varnish when the engine gets hot." good point - I found the same thing. Nearly shat myself first time I saw it - thought something was well and truly gunged-up somewhere and was now finding its own way out! :roll...

Last winter, I kept my 900 tucked away in the garage unless the weather/road conditions allowed a 20-mile+ trip out. Whilst it was under wraps, I ran it up to warm temp at least once a week, used only super unleaded in the (kept full to the brim) tank, added stabil and redex to the fuel, used a regu...
