does anyone know where I can get the cyl head removed and checked / repaired for bent valve(s) in the north east uk …. might be a bit beyond my skill level

thanks again for your advice …. did compression test on all cylinders … #3 had no compression all others erratic around 90psi ….. checking valve clearances #3 inlet is zero so is not closing … all others are out of spec … so I have some shimming to do … need a tool now

The idle speed is ok and is easy to adjust with the tick over screw, this was also a problem with idle speed until I fitted larger pilot jets, do you think I need to fit larger main jets also …. do you think mid range is too lean hence the revs hanging

Latest ….. fired the bike up run it till steady idle …. sprayed wd40 around the inlet rubbers, engine speed remained at idle …… next removed both throttle cables, started the engine and operated the throttle cable pulley wheel by hand …….. engine speed still hangs until it slowly returns to idle

Double checked cables … got play on both cables …. throttle action is loose

I have not checked the inlet rubbers as they looked fairly new … I have read if you spray wd40 around the inlet rubber when the motor is idling the revs should go up if there is a poor seal

I have a Z1A fitted with VM26mm carbs a 4-1 and pod filters … the problem I have is the revs are slow to drop on throttle blip … idle speed is ok its just when the throttle is blipped to say mid range it seems slow to return back to idle..... checked advance retard seems ok … new cables fitted...

What is the physical difference between Z1 … Z1000 … Z650 Fuel tanks … my Z1A forks hit the tank on one side … I cannot see any problems with steering stem and frame lock stops … only hits on one side ??????

Hi ……. rubbers are new and the tank fits as it should, the forks only hit the tank on one side… lock stops on the bottom yoke have not been tampered with both stops measuring 300mm … the issue seems to be the distance from the yoke lock stops to the frame stop … one side measures 300mm the other mea...

Hi … I have just finished restoring a Z1A …. when I put the tank on it seems the fork ( headlight bracket ) hits the tank before it reaches the lock stop … the other side is fine …. any ideas ???
