Z1000A2 - engine out...well trying

Dumb question , which I probably already know the answer to, but here goes. Had some rare shed time to move along the Z1000 project a little more. The original Kawasaki manual shows a happy bloke taking out a clean engine from the right side of an otherwise fairly complete bike. A tiny bit of guidan...

Re: Tail light options - modded Z1

As an aside.... in the '90's I rode around on a green Kz1000 with an aftermarket catseye rear light. I liked the look at the time..... ebay and many other places still sell 'em so I'm sure most will know what I mean. It was bolted into a homemade tail tidy of cut and bent ally plate of my own fair b...

Re: Tail light options - modded Z1

I saw a well fitting light a few years ago. Owner said it was from the first generation SV650. Was mounted on a tail tidy under a Z1000 duck tail and looked pretty good.

Re: Z1000A1 looking to sell

Thanks Mark and Gonzo - great information and I see the Z1 tail curve works well. Hmmmm... well think I'll go for it - with the Z1000 tail for now. Love that paint job Gonzo !

Re: Z1000A1 looking to sell

Hi Mark - Sorry you are letting the bike go, it looks like a lot of work went into it. I have been pondering a Z1 round rear light on my Z1000A2 project and yours looks really good. Did you need a Z1 tail for it to fit so well or do you think a Z1000 shape would work as well? Envious about the tail ...

Re: KZ1000A2 - Master cylinders

Thanks all for the information - much appreciated. I do have some calipers and discs sourced from eBay some years ago. Sounds like I’d better get some measurements done for them and sort out what I have. Cass - cheers for the offer of a spare, I didn’t see your message before I ordered a replica so ...

KZ1000A2 - Master cylinders

Hello folks, thought I'd ask for a little extra help here as I fumble my way through a '78 KZ rebuilt project. The bike was pretty unmolested and my current plan is to rebuild as a tidy standard looking bike. My last Zed 1000 had twin front discs and I am hoping to put the same on mine, so here is m...

Re: MOTAD 4 X 2 EXHAUST Z1000/Z900

Looking at the headers - I see there are brass (bronze?) nuts on the exhaust studs. Is that right or is it a nice finish of some sort? I had headers bolted into the head of my project so just curious on what they are and whether you decided on them for a particular reason. Still nowhere near to fini...

Re: Clocks refurb - Z1000A2

Sorry folks not been in the forum for a few days. If you don't mind me asking what did that cost? Ultim8pc - The clocks were £350 and are like new. Looks a good job, how long did it take? Gonzo - It took about 6 weeks from Zed-man receiving until they arrived back with me. Big Fluff - Great work on ...

Re: Z Thou a1 a2 pics of brake pedal spring

If it helps put your mind at rest - I took mine off at the weekend as I’m stripping the frame down for painting. Looked a bit squiff too - and a lot more mucky and rusty around there than Keith’s nice clean shiny pictures !

Fantastic - just what I was after - thanks

What manual is that from by the way. I have a Kawasaki one, a Clymer and the Haynes book of lies. Couldn’t find it in anything last night - although I was rushing a bit
