Something you might want to consider is the master cylinder. Always found the standard brake set up on my Lawson was pretty good if I used sintered pads. Got a modern radial master cylinder on a whim but really for the looks and didn't really expect it to make any difference. The increased braking p...

My 84 1100r has been bored to 1170 with 9.5:1 wiseco pistons. Though despite the head also being flowed it produces no more power than when it was stock (measured on the same dyno). So if you're looking for more power I guess you need to use the 10.5 pistons and change the cams and carbs Guess I'll ...

I should be there if I'm not too hungover! Just fitted my CMA rear wheel so it'll be a first ride out with it. Just adding these photos as a test as I've never uploaded any before Sprocket drilled out to fit bushes and top hat washers to act as a cush drive. Not sure how will it will work - the wash...

Al, I'll get Dynotech to do the valves this time but may borrow it for the next time.
How often should they be checked?

Thanks

I'll be there. Not on a Z though - not letting the winter salt ruin any decent bike. Will be going on an XR250 (yes, sorry it's a H****). It'll be the one with the headlight off all the time - I'm using all the available watts from the pathetic generator to power up my electric jacket! Just got to w...

Just dug out a photo of that bike taken at the 1985 bike show in Olympia. It was a stunning machine. Be amazing to see it restored to full glory. Unfortunately I've only just thrown out all my bike mags from that era and I'm sure it was in the Superbike mags (but the mags had been in the garage for ...

Guess what? Another Lawson!

First time uploading photos so don't know if this is work. It's finally back on the road after a 8 year lay up. :D (I actually brought it in 1996, sold it to a friend in 2001 but he never used it so I brought back a couple of years ago). I cheated though as most of the work was done by Debben. He re...

Revs Racing will rebuild just about anything and they have a fairly quick turnaround.
But as Pigford says, they're now called Ikon and it may be cheaper to buy a new set.
Maxton do an equivalent but with an alloy body to make them lighter. About £300 though but probably excellent quality.

Seen the Debben one. Looks good but doesn't have a road baffle. I think it's the Exhaust Craft one. Got a reply from Z power and they have the pipe in stock so think I'll take one. I'll show it off at one of the meetings in 2009. Bike's starting to look good now. Had the wheels re painted (by Griffs...

Thanks for those pics. Does look good fitted. Love those curved header pipes. How loud is it - is it as bad as a Harris with a race baffle? Used to ride my Z around years ago with the race baffle but it's got the road baffle in now as I suspect I'd be pulled over every five minutes these days. Rides...

Anyone have one of these exhausts?

Getting ready to blow big money on my 1100R. Dropped it off at Debben yesterday for a complete engine strip and rebuild and looking into a new exhaust. Seen this on the Z power website and think it looks rather special. https://www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanager/product_info.php?products_id=1735 Have...

Sounds like you've got a similar problem to the one I had. I spent years trying to track down needles for my carbs. They had dynojet needles fitted and it just didn't run properly. I spent a small fortune at a local dyno centre where they tried out various needles. XJR1300 needles worked out OK in t...

Z1100R carbs

Thanks for carb offer but don't think it'll help. I know it is the carbs. It had been running perfect but then I kept getting muck in the carbs (a really fine silt that got through the inline filter). Had to clean the tank out several times before I cured it, but in case it happened again I put pods...

Z1100R

Wasn't me out on the bike. It's been off the road for years. Have been restoring it this year and went to MOT it at the beginning of August but it cut out a couple of miles from home. Been in at a workshop with dyno facilities for the last six weeks whilst they try different needles etc to get it to...

Help! Z1100R major carb problem

Sorry that as my first post I have to ask a question. I've been trying to get my Lawson rep back on the road after several years in the shed but the needles from the original BS34 carbs have been lost (long story I won't bore you with). It has Dynojet needles fitted and has been on a dyno more times...
